Four(4) Japanese Imari Porcelain Soba Noodle Cups, Ca. mid 1800's, late Edo or early Meiji period, 3 1/8" diameter-cup top rim, 2 5/8" high, decorated Lotus, Peony and other floral design on the Rock garden, in underglaze Blue and White plus some red, green used, highlighted with Gold touch. Two(2) hairline on the glaze, one(1) bruise about 1/4" long, one(1) cup is in good condition. this lot is same decoration as lot #3A13.
Six(6) Japanese Imari Porcelain Soba Noodle Cups, Ca. mid 1800's, late Edo or Early Meiji period, 2 3/8" diameter-top rim, 1 3/4" high, decorated with blue and white and some green and red, Lotus, Peony and some other floral and foliage in the Rock Garden. One(1) glaze hairline on the cup, outside only, not inside, two(2) or three(3) frits on the rim of the cup.
19th century wooden netsuke of a Buddhist monk arm wrestling with an oni on a huge lotus leaf. Wonderful subject, excellent carving with superb faces and great detailing of their limbs and fingers. Himotoshi is formed by the lotus stem on the bottom, beautiful patina. Signed RAKUSHI on the bottom - judging by the subject and the first character of the signature, the artist belonged to the Rakumin School and was obviously a master carver. Length 1 1/2 inches.
This is a Japanese antique natural indigo dye shibori (Tie-dye)silk han-jyuban edo period.
It has stitches for reinforcement, but the others are in very good condition.
The lining is indigo cotton.

Authentic Japanese Edo period woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) depicting two actors in a kabuki play published by Enshuya Hikobei in 1852. The artist’s signature “Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga” and Yoshi Kiri seal are at the lower left with the seal of the publisher beside it. This print is possibly a panel from a triptych. 18th century Japanese sword iron tsuba with raised and inlaid decoration of a seated tiger scratching its ear by a thick stem of bamboo with leaves. Delightful design, good work, wonderful depiction of the creature, gilded and silvered leaves, very pleasant feel of age. Height 2 15/16 inches.
Early 19th century ebony netsuke of a shishi (Buddhist lion) sitting foursquare on a base, its head turned to the right. Like any dark object does not photograph well. Wonderful netsuke carved with confidence and great detail - see its alert face, bushy tail, well defined ribs and paws. Wonderful sense of volume, beautiful lustre unique to ebony. Japanese “Gosho Ningyo” doll of a plump male child in a kneeling position holding a colorfully painted rooster in his right arm. The boy is wearing a fabric bib with painted designs that has 2 ties in the back. He wears a black crinkled eboshi hat that’s secured by a thin rope that is tied in a bow under the chin. The eyes, eyebrows, and hair accents are painted in black while the pursed lips are accented in red...
19th century coral ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) of simple barrel shape. True coral of beautiful deep red natural color (not stained), nice patina on the surface. Height 3/8 inches.
It is a piece of embroidered kimono on the figured satin silk of the Edo period.
It is embroidered with surihitta by hand, and it is represented by a very precise technique.
Because there are many damage, we reinforced by sticking with Japanese paper on the back.
I will recommend this to your collections and materials.

This is a fine early Japanese cloisonne vase with an unusual reddish brown ground color. This vase has a lot of fine work and detail. It is actually better in person because it is only 4 3/4 tall and the details in the images have been enlarged. It is not signed and is in excellent condition.
Japanese inro with a large standing bull, frontally positioned with head lowered and looking ahead at the viewer. From the ring in his nose is a rope leading off to the side. The reverse image is a scene, entirely in gold lacquer, of rolling hills and pine saplings in the foreground. The inro opens to reveal a compartment lacquered red on the inside with a small removable inset tray.

Early 19th century wooden netsuke carved as standing Hotei (one of the 7 Gods of Good Luck, also considered to be the incarnation of Maitreya - the Buddha of the future) with his hand on his large belly. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black and then wood starts showing. Great quality carving - see his face with a crooked smile and finely textured stubble, fingers with well defined fingernails, flow of the robe folds...
Four(4) Japanese Imari Porcelain Soba Noodle Cups, Ca. late Edo to early Meiji period, mid 1800's, 2 5/8" high, 4" square-top rim, shaped square top rim with overglaze Comical figures on dark Red divided panels on four(4) sides, underglaze blue flying crane decoration on the bottom enclosed with blue decorative rim on top inside the cup. One(1) cup has one(1) glaze hairline about 1" long, barely visible, and some sand marks while firing in the kiln inside the cups.
18th century good size wooden netsuke of a monstrously tall South Seas islander wearing a leaf skirt and holding a fish in one hand, with a man in Chinese robe hardly reaching a knee level of the giant and raising his hand in amazement. Unusual subject, very strong early carving with obvious and expected wear, wonderful face with wide open mouth, superb patina with beautiful warm sheen, deep himotoshi in accordance with the habit of the time. Perfectly balanced - stands on its own...
