19th Century Japanese Wood Lacquer Buddha Zushi Travel Shrine

It is 1.2 inches (3 cm) tall by 2.75 inches (7 cm) wide. It is 51.8 gram.

Japanese woodblock print depicting an actor portraying a samurai by Kuniteru II (1829-1874), published by Daikokuya Heikichi (Shojudo) in 1867. The paper measures about 14 5/8"V x 10 1/4"H. The print is in very good overall condition with good impression quality and color. There are lacquer highlights in the black areas and mica at the top. There is an ample margin on the left and top. The paper is fine, the print is not backed, and the image is clearly visible on the reverse...

A fine Imari bowl and cover decorated with a pattern composed of Autumn flowers, akikusa de, and Banded hedges, shibagaki. A wheel cut Johanneum inventory number incised to the interior of the foot-ring of the bowl indicating that it belonged to the collection of Augustus the Strong, and was acquired before 1722. Both cover and bowl marked with an enamelled choji motif. The bowl and cover are in superb condition, no cracks, chips or restoration...

Sublime ceramic Kannon statue of old Kutani-yaki made by one of the greatest potters, Aoki Mokubei. The statue is 200 years old and in great antique condition with only a small repair on the right hand with transparent lacquer and only one! tiny spot with peeling of glaze. The all over glaze is spectacular.

A very unusual cup with an undulating suhama style rim; a formalization of an undulating shore line of spits and coves decorated with a pair of auspicious Horses, uma. The cup measures 9.5cm in diameter and stands 6.5cm high. The cup is in excellent condition, no cracks, chips or restoration. Dating late 18th century circa 1780. An antique Japanese Chobako (merchant box) made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) and Kiri (Paulownia) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged safety door protects 6 drawers that were used for various merchant supplies, valuables and papers. Upper carrying handle used to move piece to various locations.

19th century finely hand-carved Japanese boxwood netsuke of a muscular blind masseur or Totsuka Beggar crouching and trying to lift his hugely distended scrotum. He is wearing only a fundoshi.
