A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. Unusual japanese bronze flower vase, signed with the original kiri (paulownia wood) tomobako box. On the lid of the box is the kanji 'Sentoku Tsubogata Hanaire' meaning the design is like a japanese tsubo or tea storage jar and smoked straw was used at the end of firing to achieve the rich colored markings and patina.
