Unusual late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese kushi (hair comb) with buffalo horn teeth and silver frame with design of flying cranes on geometric background. Sharp metalwork with gold washes to the bodies of the birds, clever work in Japanese taste, nicely tarnished. Length 3.45 inches.

A Fukagawa five 7/8 inch bread plate. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. Priced for each bread plate, there were six available when listed. Vintage Japanese wooden sago (tea scoop) carved in a shape of an eggplant. That kind of tea scoop is used for sencha - a type of Japanese green tea which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water. Cleverly and beautifully carved (see the stippling on the leaves by the stem) out of softwood, very pleasant to hold, in great condition. Length 4 7/8 inches.

A choice bronze 10 tical opium Toe weight, Burmese ca. 1750-80 AD.

This Toe has the elavated horselike tail with three spikes, and standing on an octagonal and finely stepped base.

Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Covered Paste Ink Box, 2 1/4" high with cover, 3 5/8" diameter top rim, with darker blue Double Happiness design among scrolling Vines and Sweet Peas, typical Chinese Straits Culture design. There are some firing dots but no damages.

This is a finely carved and lacquered wood Ojime in the form of a Double-Sided Kyogen (Japanese Theater) character masks depicting Okina on one side and Buaku on the reverse. The center cord hole or himotoshi are lined with shakudo or copper and gold alloy. It is not signed, but is attributed to Hozan, a netsuke-shi who worked in wood with metals and lacquer accents in Early 19th century. He was a pupil of Hojitsu. Ojime measures 0.66 inches (1.6cm) in diameter, and 0.74 inches (1.8cm) tall...

Late Qing Dynasty (late 19th century to 1911) Chinese horn square seal of plain shape with very crisply carved Chinese characters on the base and traces of red seal paste in the grooves. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Beautiful light color horn with old age lines horn, incised character on the top for the owner to know the orientation of the impression. Mellow patina, very nice object for scholar’s table. Height 1 1/4 inches, base 1/2 inches square.

Three shards from a black terracotta jar dating to the Warring States Period, possibly as late as early Han (206-220 BC). One piece has a lion's head mask. The longest shard measure 4.75". Excellent study pieces. Price includes shipping worldwide.

Chinese Green Glazed Pottery Chopstick Wall Hanging pocket, can be used as a wall Vase, 1930, 7 1/2" high, 5 1/2" wide, 2 1/2" deep, the condition is good.

19th century repousse Chinese gilded copper sew-on clothing ornament He He Twins, also known as the Heavenly twins, or the Two Saints of Harmony. During Qing Dynasty such metal figures of traditional mythical characters were sewn onto clothing and hats for decoration. Nicely made, small holes around perimeter for sewing onto clothes. Height 1.57 inches.

Late Meiji (1890s - 1910s) small Japanese bamboo wrist rest used by painters and calligraphers, made out of a section of bamboo stem with very beautiful natural raised spotting on the outside resembling marching columns of black ants. Excellent subtle piece in elegant scholar’s taste, probably made for a child, warm patina, in superb condition. Length 7 1/8 inches, width 15/16 inches.
