Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Incised Pottery Buddhist Jar
This rare pottery jar was made in the 12th / 13th century during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368).
It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is of globular form standing on an integral foot. The upper part of the jar has been decorated with incised lotus leaf panels each containing a tree pattern. Above these is an incised geometric pattern surrounding the mouth...
This very rare pottery vessel was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It is "heavily-potted" with a sturdy handle and the mouth fashioned to form a pouring lip. A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. Offered is a fine pair of Japanese 18th Century porcelain bowls, made in Arita circa 1740 to 1780, give or take a decade. They are decorated in underglaze blue and white (sometsuke). These bowls measure approximately 5 3/4" (about 14.6 cm) wide and just under 2" (5.2 cm) high, and the weight is 225 grams for one bowl and 267 grams for the other...
