Lovely pair of Japanese Geisha Isho Ningyo. The style of this gorgeous set is fashioned after the work of early Japanese woodblock prints artists, such as Utamaro. Pair of Japanese sliding door handles. They are made of a copper alloy finely chiseled with scrolls and stylized flowers on a nanako background, alternately there are shakudo plates (an alloy of copper and gold, shibuichi or silvered sentoku. They are excessively heavy and of the best quality. The size is much larger than for a normal door handle (double in size) which implies very high and wide doors. It is not a usual rich house that can accommodate doors of this size...

A lovely tray in the shape of a split lotus leaf by Ito Tetsugai enclosed in a period wooden box titled Sencha Shiki Habon. It is roughly 53 x 25 cm (20-1/2 x 10 inches), expertly carved to be incredibly thin. Trays like these were used as decorative objects in the service of steeped green tea, and were very popular from the Meiji through early Showa eras.

Antique Chinese porcelain water coupe in the form of a pine branch. Whimsically sculpted with a gibbon hanging from it's handle. Glazed a lovely mauve color on the outside and a white glaze inside. Underside has Wang Bing Rong mark in a raised cartouche. Wang Bing Rong (1840-1900) specialized in carved decoration on porcelain and was active during the Tongzhi to Gunagxu Period.

A rare Japanese Hirado porcelain Netsuke with a movable tongue. The unglazed porcelain of the Hotti has a laughing face with a tongue that moves in and out of his mouth. He is carrying a guord and walking stick. Netsuke are miniature sculptures that were invented in 17th-century Japan to serve a practical function (the two Japanese characters ne + tsuke mean “root” and “to attach”)...

Japanese Oshi-e Ningyô of Two Kabuki Actors. 12 x 8.75 inches each, 30.5 x 22.25 cm each. These were very popular during the Meiji Period; over 400 million dollars in sales (in current currency) was recorded in 1888. The characteristics of Matsumoto Oshi-e Ningyô are that the design is stuffed heavily with cotton and the faces are painted in Ukiyo-e (the floating world of Edo period) style. It is very rare to find old Oshi-e Ningyô in this quality and size today...

Japanese Koto Cover featuring a magnificent Phoenix. The Koto is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument. This Koto Cover was for an important Koto player. Chinese lacquer export chair. Sturdy construction and black lacquer. The Chinese chair is patterned after an archaic style with flanges and apron spandrels. It's decorated with red undertone and gilt lacquer in a scrolling lotus motif. The main back splat forms an archaic Hu vase painted with fine details of a classical landscape. The seat is beautifully worn as are the chair rails and arm rests. The underside of the chair has a cross frame for structural support...
