Wonderfully made Chinese Statue of the mythical diety Zhong Kui. Zhong Kui was seen as many symbols including, protector of evil spirits, expeller of demons plague, and protects homes with male children. Zhong Kui is posing triumphantly with sword in hand, and a bat in the other. His foot is resting on a demon he commands. A Brown Glaze Sung Dynasty Jar with four ears. There is expected wear to the glaze. Interestingly, the jar was flawed during it's manufacture with slumping / denting to the clay in its lower portion and which is noticeable in images. Diameter: 6.50 inches; Height 6.50 inches.

Large Sawankhalok covered box from 14th-16th century with ribbed lid and base & blues and browns in under-glaze with clear design. There is visible damage to the inside rim of base and to the lid. This is an early Japanese Imari vase from the last quarter of the 1800's. The leaves and flowers are painted in thick colorful enamels. There are also some gold highlights. The vase is very heavy and stoutly made. It is 10 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Condition is very good with some expected wear. Still a very fine old display piece.

This is a very refined studio vase from the Meiji era. The subtle colors and detail are truly beautiful. It is signed by one of the Japanese porcelain masters, Nishiura Enji. The work on Mt Fuji is raised relief and give off a three dimensional look. The shape is elegant and the changing colors are vry elusive. The vase stands just over 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Imari porcelain dish, shaped in “double fish” form and decorated in traditional Imari colors with floral designs in rust red, and fish scales and fins in royal blue. The reverse has painted florals and grasses on the four sides. Late 19th/early 20th century, and in excellent condition with no chips or restorations.
