Deluxe edition Japanese Meiji period woodblock print by Torii Kiyotada VII, also known as Tadakiyo, (1875-1941) depicting the kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro IX portraying Fudo Myoo from the series "The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays" published by Hasegawa in 1896. The series title extends across the top of the image. The artist's Tadakiyo signature and red jar seal are at the lower left...

Antique Japanese ikebana basket, all hand-woven with sections of bamboo. The body is a cylindrical shape, narrowing towards the bottom four short feet. The handle is made with natural Wisteria branches. The interior holds two small wooden containers to hold beautiful arrangements of flowers.

Small "ghau", the front side, made of bronze, is decorated with a foliage and lotus design, the box itself ans its lid being made of copper with bronze handles. The "ghau" contains a tiny bronze statue of Bodhisattava Manjusri and textile. Fine age patina. A leather cord allows attachement of the "ghau" to a belt. Tibet, 19th century. Very good condition.

A diminutive image of Hotei (Putai) the lucky god of fortune from the Edo period kilns of the Matsudaira clan of Matsue in their distinct golden color. It is 4.5 x 3.3 x 4 cm tall and is in excellent condition. Fushina-yaki was the Goyogama clan kiln of the Matsudaira of Matsue Han in modern day Izumo, established around 1764...

This is Japanese antique silk vest of the yosegire patchwork of the Edo era(1800-1867). It is dyer's Safflower dyeing itajime (katazome)and katazome and shibori. It is compose it of the silk of the silkworm of nature of three kinds of colors. It is very luxurious, and it is beautiful. It does not have a stain and damage. Both frames are open and partly connected. The crimson silk of the lining has the part that a color changed...

During the Qing Dynasty, the feathers of the kingfisher bird were used to create ornaments for woman to attach to clothing and/or wear in their hair... Through the 1800's These ornaments were made and formed with heavy paper (light weight cardboard...) Beautiful long silk panel with exquisite embroidery of dragons, flaming pearls, flying phoenix birds or pheasants all in varying shades of gold thread on deep turquoise silk background, with wide silk black border, Qing era, 18th or 19th century. Measures: 44" x 8 7/8". Embroidery on a blue silk background with woven ribbon edging, black silk border with a grey tone woven edge, backing is beige or light tan loosely woven fabric, probably cotton. Set of three large graduated Japanese Arita porcelain serving bowls, each decorated in underglaze blue with a landscape scene featuring a temple set against craggy mountains and trees. A flowing band of scrolling foliage encircles the exterior. Late Meiji Period to early 20th century. Base marked. In diameter, each measures: 10," 8 7/8" and 7 1/2." In height, they are 3 3/4," 3 3/8" and 2 3/4." Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. From a Tucson, Arizona estate.

Pair of Chinese export Canton tea caddies in hexagonal form, blue and white with traditional landscape and geometric banding, 6 carved feet, glazed bottoms, original lids. Measure 5" wide, 6 1/4" high and 3" deep, slight variation in sizes and shapes. Surface of caddies is slightly dimpled with the "orange peel" appearance to the glaze, all decoration in under glaze blue. Hexagon shape, with landscape scenes on front and back, hand painted with slight differences...

A fine and genuinely old silver mounted Prayer Wheel / Mill (‘Khor'), Tibet, 19th. century.

With silver in the midsection, mounted with coral and torquise, large silver folliage mounts on the top and bottom, bone suspension and a finely polished hardwood handle. Note also the silver lotus buc at the top. Guaranteed authentic old.

Lenght: 23 cm. and quite solidly built.

Nicely aged patinated Japanese old ivory letter opener or possibly a page turner with carved and dyed lizard making its way up the handle. The piece is 9.5 inches long and .5 inches wide. It is slightly doomed across the width and the "blade" section is sharpened on one side... Really a lovely piece.

An Arita Export porcelain dish decorated with a design based on a Ming Chinese Kraak plate. A pair of Ho-o birds amongst flowers and bursting pomegranates. Arita, circa 1690 - 1720. A similar dish is illustrated in the Shibata Collection, Kyushu Ceramic Museum, item 2495.

The border pattern shows a striking similarity to that used for V.O.C. orders produced at the Hikeoba and Sarugawa kilns. Circa 1680.
