Set of Three Brass Bowls, (right to left) one Goryeo Dynasty, one Joseon Dynasty, and one Early 20th Century. A fantastic set that spans a thousand years of Korean history. All three are beautiful examples of each time period, with wonderful forms and great patinas. Width and height, starting from the oldest (right to left): 6 x 4 inches (15.25 x 10 cm), 7 x 4 inches (17.75 x 10 cm), 5.5 x 4.5 inches (14 x 11.5 cm).
Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Chinese are very fond of creating ink stones out of “found objects” such as roof tiles etc...
Japanese late 19th century black and gold lacquered tray. Made by lacquer artist, MUNEMITSU. Tray measures 10" by 10" and is 1 3/8" tall.

Early 19th century lacquered wood netsuke of a boy climbing onto a huge double gourd. Nice subject (most probably a reference to a rebus), excellent face with a wide smile. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black and later wood start showing. Wear consistent with age, wonderful patina. Length 1.85 inches.
Chinese Turquoise color Monochrome Pottery hand molded 2 handle Dragon Vase, Ca. 17th C. Ming, 8" high, 6" wide for point to point hexagonal bottom, 4 1/4" wide for top include two(2) handles. The bottom is not glazed. There are some small glaze chips, very common for this type of monochrome glazed pottery.
Umber glazed porcelain Chinese scholar's brush rest. Measures 2 3/4 inches high, 2 5/8" across. Condition very good with just 2 old chips on base. Circa 1900 or earlier.
Chinese Qing dynasty to early Republic period naturalistic form wood brush pot with a hollow circular top for holding brushes. Carved from a single piece of wood, the recessed base is not a separate plug. Late 19th to early 20th century. 7 3/4” high x about 8” diameter at the base and 4” diameter at the outer edge of the top; interior of the brush holder: 3 3/4" deep x about 2 1/4" diameter; weighs 4 lb. 3 7/8 oz. Antique Japanese vase decorated with scroll vine motifs around the mouth of the vase and animal like figures near the mid-section of the vase. The glaze used for this piece is emulation Jun ware which was developed in the Song Dynasty in China and in Japan, Song dynasty style glazes captivated connoisseurs and tea masters. Classic Japanese Mingei folk art figure probably from a Buddhist altar or rural roadside Shinto shrine. The forearms are missing. It is darkened from incense and candle smoke. Acquired in Japan in the early 1970s.

Old Ethiopian scroll painted and written on animal skin. Approx 200 x 9.5cm, in 2 part leather container. Evidence of damage on right side throughout. Undeciphered. Date estimated to be early 20th century or earlier.
Finely potted porcelain dish with milky white glaze, the broad border moulded with ruyi heads. The center with fine depiction of a kirin, painted in green enamel, iron red and some gold. Please refer to: "Kakiemon Porcelain - A Handbook" by Menno Fitski, No. 126. Condition: little wear to painted area, base with a star crack, rim with a short hairline and a firing default. Dimension: diameter: 14.8 cm, 3.1 cm high.

A collection of 10 Buddhist and Bon ritual cards tsakli) painted with colors on paper from different sets, of which the most interesting and rare depicts a Wrathful Protector, 3 Vinaya cards and a Yogi belonging to the Bonpo school, and 5 Buddhist tsakli with ritual objects. Most of the cards have long inscription on the back side.

Condition: Of mixed quality, 3 in good condition, the rest quite worn.
