A two drawer Japanese box done in a kinji or gold background with fine paintings of pine and flowers with a family crest set in the open areas of the piece. The box has metal fittings for the drawers and a handle to carry the chest. Often lacquer works with family crests were made for dowries for high ranking samurai families. Nice old red and black lacquered Cambodian Siri (betel) box container with foliate scroll pattern incised on the surface. Minor lacquer losses and restoration consistent with an antique piece. The art of Cambodian lacquer production has had a minor renaissance in recent years but this mainly done for the decorative art export market, items made for local village use this has pretty much died out after Khmer Rouge Era and advent of cheap Chinese plastic boxes...

All along the four edges of this bone toggle, there is a carved circular pattern design. This pattern is very similiar to a Yao Ethnic Minority pattern and would be unusual in a Han piece.

The last picture enlargement shows how the toggle would have been used to secure the cords of a hat. The bead would be moved up the cords so that the toggle would be tight under the chin...

He was a famous calligrapher and engineer who invented the kana, syllabic Japanese scripts used in the Japanese writing system. He sits holding prayer beads upon an elaborate lotus throne with lovely gold filligree and a small blue beast sitting below...

This is Furosiki made in the Izumo district for Edo period. This is dyed in Katazome and Hikizome. This is dyed in natural indigo plant and Yamamomo. This has a stain such as the image in some points. And this has some small holes. This shows old form of Izumo Furosiki. As for this, cotton is spun by hand and is thick. Size 99cm x 95cm (38.9 "x 37.4")

A fine old ceremonial sake pourer, hisage, hand made from copper and decorated with shochikubai (pine, plum and bamboo), minogame and cranes. Also present are two prominent Tokugawa family crests and on the handle three 16 petalled chrysanthemum crests and another on the rear handle mount. 19th century or earlier. Fine work.

The body of the pourer has probably been raised from one sheet of copper...

Nicely cast ritual spoon, with a highly detailed statue on its top representing Hindu god Krishna standing on a stylised lotus and playing his flute, with a cow behind him. The spoon itself is decorated with two birds on its sides and a geometric design at its back. Copper with nice green patina. India, early 19th century. Height: 14.8 cm. The spoon is mounted on a custom stand to enhance its beauty. A rather rare piece of this size and condition.

This remarkable artifact is an ancient Greek Mycenaean-type bronze spearhead that dates back to the Bronze Age, circa 1500 B.C. The spearhead showcases a narrow, leaf-shaped blade that was expertly crafted to ensure its sharpness and durability. Moreover, the spearhead features an integral hollow socket designed to accommodate the spear's shaft. The shaft would have been secured to the spearhead using two opposed holes pierced into the socket's lower part for this purpose...

This Chinese Ming Dynasty (1368~1615) bronze temple guardian is 13 ½ inches tall. The halo is a replacement and part of the mirror in his hand has been repaired. The weapon he carried is gone. Over all, it is in pretty good condition.
