A very unusual and rare mid Edo period iron Duo. Full wrap around breast and back plate with hinged shoulders plates. Detail of an incredibly fierce and deleted dragon wrapped around and suspended around swirling clouds.
In japan, the dragon represent wisdom, strength, force for good, wind, water and of coarse wealth. Dragons are destructive forces, but they are also considered guardians.
The collar of the undergarment is hand sewn silk embroidered with gold threads...

This Umakake was used in the Shinshu region during the Edo period, and Umaya-zaru was drawn with Tsutsugaki. Umaya-zaru was believed to be the guardian deity of horses. These days, it is a very rare item that is rarely seen. Cotton cloth is hand-spun and thick. The cleverly designed Umaya-zaru is interesting. There is no stain damage at all. Glazed Gnathia ware oinochoe with trefoil spout and arched handle. The body decorated with leaf-sprays suspended from a band with egg pattern and dots.

Fine Chinese jade libation cup; shows two Chilong, one with its head draped over the handle and the other shown crawling up the other side; lovely russeted section blends well into the green; natural cracks present; good condition

Leather products were rare and expensive during the Qing Dynasty in China. Fans were in common usage and a quality fan would have required a proper protective case. A wealthy woman could have afforded this suede fan case and would have considered it as the acceptable accessory to properly detail her finery.

The case is 9+ inches long with silk cord for drawstrings, elaborately knotted and tasseled.

A scarce and interesting Cylinder-stamp, found around Antiochia, probably, dating around 2nd. mill. BC, though the collectors dated this seal much earlier (see picture of his ID-cards)...
