A Fukagawa eight and 3/8 inch salad plate. Iris dcoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including random butterflys. Mt. Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Antique Japanese small very fuctional storage box made of kiri (paulownia) wood with a warm brown lacquered finish. The style of handle on each of its drawers is called 'hirute'. Meiji age (1868-1912) Size: 14.5" height, 12" width, 15.75" depth

1890s - 1910s (late Meiji - early Taisho) Japanese bamboo basket woven in a shape of a tray to be used for ikebana arrangements or a tea ceremony. Wonderful piece made in Karamono (Chinese, more formal than Japanese) style with square grid center and concentric surround. Finely woven smoked narrow bamboo strips, rich warm patina from smoking process and age. The basket is in excellent shape, no broken strips. Diameter 9 inches, height 2 inches.

This traditional small leather purse would have been used as an ornament and hung from a belt by a Tibetan woman during festival. It is heavily decorated with silver metal, turquoise and coral beads. This is an old one and is in excellent condition.

The box has 5 drawers of various sizes for storing personal items. The spandrel under the mirror is carved with a bird flying in front of a full moon and tall grasses. Original beveled glass mirror which swivels up and down...

Japanese antique small single section mizuya tansu (kitchen chest), hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood frame, with beautiful keyaki (elm) wood drawer fronts, three compartments with sliding panels all with black lacquer frames: top sliders with keyaki wood panels, middle sliders with textured glass, bottom sliders with glass backed by wooden lattice work; 6 drawers of various sizes, warabite shaped drawer pulls, Taisho Period. Size: 43 1/4" high x 32" wide x 13 7/8" deep.

A small Thai pedestal silver tray made in several parts. With repoussed and incised decoration of an animal and flower scrolls. Dimension: diameter: c. 14 cm, 6 cm high, weight: 163 g. Condition: few traces of usage.

Chinese Red Lacquer Bamboo Bridal Food Basket, early 1900's, 15" high with handle, 10" wide & square, contains inner wood tray inside the lower compartment, high lighted with raise carved gold lacquered design on high handle, one metal butterfly is missing on one side.

Antique Japanese gyosho bako, or merchant's chest, in a tall and slender style with many drawers. It is made of kiri (paulownia) wood with a dark brown lacquer. The drawers bear an emblem faded from age, perhaps once used to label the contents inside. The very bottom drawer has an iron locking plate. Edo age (1615-1867). An antique Japanese Kotansu chest for personal storage use made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia). All bronze hardware with 6 drawers and a pair of sliding doors hiding a storage area with a split level shelf. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery with hardened wooden nails. Perfect as a side chest or desktop organizer.

17th Century Tibetan storage chest with two large front doors. Hand painted with spiraling lotus designs over green background. The interior is roomy with a single shelf. Very heavy in weight. Beautifully naturally worn original finish. Size: 34" height, 40.75" width, 19.5" depth

A well painted black ground thanka dating to the early part of the 20th century (1900-1920) depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha. No repainting or restoration. The painting measures 10"x13" and is unframed/unmounted. Glue residue on the back, as can be seen in the photos, along with some minor rubbing.

A unusual example of an antique Japanese three section Tansu chest called Ishodansu made of Toneriko (Japanese Ash) and Katsura woods. Original bronze hardware including the Warabite handles and the kissing duck handle backplates. This one-of-a-kind Tansu highlights Yosegi (Marquetry) incorporated into the beautiful Japanese Ash burl.
