Unique and charming bronze chinese senser with Wood Lid and Stand. Hard wood is hand carved, bronze has detail of flower and lilly pad. Sides of senser has protruding heads of mythical creatures as handles. A lovely antique hand-knotted wool Chinese Mongolian rug, with scene of a white cat seated on a structure of rocks, its head pointed towards the sky in observation of a nearby butterfly, with branches of blue and red flowers against a red ground. Antique Chinese bench, made of Hongmu and other mixed woods. Inset with marble headrests. The underside is carved with motifs of scrolling lingzhi mushrooms, and its sides are carved with scrolling key frets. Very heavy. With bamboo mat seat cover.

Antique Japanese sword tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) hardwood, all original finish. The piece holds two large drawers and two small corner drawers, accented with heavy iron handles, lock plates, and corner hardware. The sides of the piece feature long iron fittings for carrying.

Unusual Japanese incensor of two Japanese toads made from Izushi Yaki pottery technique. Depicting a large toad with a smaller baby toad resting on top. Smoke rises from the inner chamber an rises and vents from each of their mouths. Beautiful original patina consisting with age. Overall very good condition.
Izushi is a town that continues on from the mythical era. Today it is a castle town popular for its nostalgic atmosphere of old Japan...

Beautiful jade jar with elaborately detailed carvings of a large taotie motif, or "gluttonous ogre mask", a face motif without a lower jaw area, on its front and back, two carved handles shaped like beasts' heads with agate rings, carved chevron designs above and below the lid, topped with a floral finial. Antique Japanese Nabeshima ware bowl, with blue gourds hanging from a vine and two red flower buds with gilt pigment accents on the stem and around the bowl's rim. Bamboo Vests were used as undershirts under silk garments. They served the duel purpose of allowing some air circulation and protected the silk garments from body oils. These vest were fragile and they have become very rare and hard to find. They were made with small pieces of bamboo which are literally strung together to form a garment. This bamboo vest is a particularly nice one...

This boat-shaped basket, designed for flower arrangements, is well-crafted from strips of bamboo that is stained a rich, dark reddish-brown and had acquired areas of further dark patina from age and use. The ship form probably represents a so-called treasure ship (takarabune) signifying wishes for good fortune and is usually displayed during the New Year’s season...

Necklace made of 13 carnelian and 14 enamelled silver beads, each ca. 2 cm. long. There are 52 small silver beads between the large ones. At the bottom two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. Hanging on 2 lingzi hooks there is a silver pendant in the shape of a boy riding a qilin, a fertility symbol. At the bottom of the pendant 2 turquoise beads and 2 carnelian flowers. The pendant without the beads measures 8 x 7 cm. The complete necklace is ca. 31 cm. high, the strand is ca. 52 cm long...

Antique Chinese rank badge made with lovely varying shades of blue silk, depicting a dual-tailed paradise flycatcher with red silk legs and beak, sitting atop rolling wave motifs; Flowers surround the bird including a center peony with forbidden stitches; The entire badge bordered by oriental designs in beige, blue, and gold silk. Taisho Period (1912-1926) Gold and Black Lacquer Obento Lunch Box/Picnic Box filled with symbolism of eternal love. The deer and crane are symbols of longevity, and when they are paired they are symbols of eternal love. The pine tree is also a symbol of longevity. The pastoral scenes and gold flowers are beautifully rendered in gold lacquer on black lacquer. The handle is in the form of a pair of dragons. 14w x 12h x 7d inches, 35.5w x 30.5h x 18d inches.

Good conditions, except small chipped at inside the lid.

Antique Japanese Sakata region choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of Kiri (paulownia) hardwood, with original red lacquer finish. The top drawer and safe box door are covered in more elaborate iron hardware than the other drawers, with motifs of lingzhi mushrooms, bamboo stalks, and other floral elements. Two small drawers are hidden away inside the safe box. Three plain drawers are on the lefthand side, the middle drawer has a center divider inside...

Beautiful silk panel with deep blue edging, decorated with Chinese characters in gold thread and flowers in light shades of blue, green, and pink. The center of the panel is light green silk, with two mirrored fenghuang birds with long, gold tails and pink, blue and gold thread feathers, surrounded by pink and blue silk flowers with gold accenting.
