Eclectic strand of spherical wood, cylindrical bone and wild boar's incisor tooth beads, from the Naga or possibly Chin ethnic group in Myanmar. Some of the bone beads have been dyed to resemble pumtek heirloom beads, maybe using wax resist method. These were collected in the 1980s and had some age at the time so I will date around 1960. An ancient Egyptian Scarab for Tuthmosis III, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 11/16” long (17 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

This Qing Dynasty scroll is a kossu woven silk tapestry (kesi is the Japanese term) meticuliously depicts the famous Chinese painting scroll by Ding Yunpeng called The White Horse Carrying Sutras. The original painting was done in 1625 and illustrates the story of the 2 monks who traveled through Western China with a white horse carrying the Buddhas Scriptures. The original hangs in the National Palace Museum (Forbiddon City in TaiPei).

An Arita rectangular form dish decorated with an elaborate enamelled Lotus arabesque set against a yellow ground with a central reserve with a Chinese style landscape. The reverse painted with waves and landscape elements and a longitudinal nien hao six character mark for the Emperor Chenghua. The dish dates to the late 18th century circa 1770-1800. The lotus with yellow ground immitates contemporary Chinese Imperial porcelain of the Qianlong period...

This Qing Dynasty cloisonne box dates late 19th to pre-1910. Exhibiting a beautiful patina, the box is composed of brass with copper on the exterior. In excellent condition and a real visual pleasure, the box measures 3"x 4”.

An unusual Arita bowl decorated to the exterior with an auspicious Hundred Chinese Boys pattern, baizi tu, which shows karako, Chinese boys, engaged in various playful activities, principally Fan and Flag waving, moving large objects and chasing chicken. There may be references to various Chinese folk tales within the procession. The enormous water jar is probably a reference to the tale of Sima Guang and so on...

Japanese Meiji period “aka-e” (red) Kutani porcelain deep bowl finely decorated in the interior in overglaze rust-red and gilt highlights with a central cartouche featuring three seated scholars surrounded by dense floral and geometric panels and bands. The exterior holds two figural panels alternating with stylized flowers. A red rectangular cartouche holding a gold “Kutani” mark is on the base. Late 19th century. 7” diameter x 3 1/8” high...

Apart from the very nice underglaze blue and white decoration with four deers it is the extraordinary wide form of the body that makes this jarlet to a really special piece of its kind. Ming Dynasty, Wanli period ( 1573 - 1620 ) Jingdezhen ware. Diameter: 9,2 cm. H : 7,8 cm. Condition : Perfect.

Very rare pottery bowl and eclectic with Taoist imagery. This is made from a high fired light gray pottery, with traces of a white slip and depictions of musicians, dancers and “demon” masks. This is a funerary piece; the symbology suggests the transition from this world to the afterlife. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 5.2cm/2in. No cracks original pigments with some kiln warpage

Chinese famille-verte cafe au lait ribbed saucer, Kangxi(1662-1722), decorated with flowers, the border with branches of flowers and birds in flight, all within an underglaze blue zigzag border, the exterior with branches of flowers against a cafe au lait background. Underglaze blue Kangxi Mark to the base. Diameter : 13,3 cm. Condition : Perfect with minor wear to the enameled decoration.

Chinese Blue and White Porcelain rectangle shape scholar's Covered Box, Ca. 1880-1920, 1 3/8" high, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" wide, underglaze Bird's face with scrolling vines in the center within geometric design border. Lot of Chinese Character writings are inside the box, on the bottom and also under the top, bottom is glazed. The condition is good.

An interesting small collection of 9 bone carvings in the form of skulls, carved in the openwork, with lids at top and bottom, Tibetan c. 19th. century.

The group finely patinated and intact but some with loose lids. A set for ritual purposes.

Size: up to c. 3,3 cm. tall or less, but more of less of the same sizes.
