This was made in Amagi area in the Meiji era. This cotton was spun by hand. This Shibori was dyed with an indigo plant of nature. It is a swallow and a rainy image.In the small ring of Mame-ire Shibori, size delicately changes for handwork. And the vertical stripe has little rolling. It is a good point and fun of the handwork. An unusual underglaze blue Chinese cricket jar with charming scenes of a scholar in garden settings. The condition is very good without chips, cracks, or hairlines. Dating circa 1900, it measures 5" across x 3.5" high.

Antique Chinese snuff bottle in white jade with intricate carved designs and agate stopper. Chinese snuff bottles would contain powdered tobacco, which was considered remedial for common illnesses. Late 19th century. Size: 2 1/4" tall x 1 7/8" long x 3/4" depth

Ivory satin robe, decorated with butterflies and flowers in various shades of pink, blue, and yellows, black satin detailing with cranes and butterflies, edged in deep blue. Gorgeous deep blue sleeves depict a dragon and phoenix coming into confrontation.
Chinese dragons represent masculinity and darkness while the phoenix (or feng-huang) represents femininity and light...

Charming rustic Japanese antique jizai hook for heating water over a fire, made of keyaki (elm) wood and carved in the shape of a fish, beautiful wood grain with a deep patina from years of use, an iron hook is attached to the tail, a rope or chain would have threaded through a vertical hole from head to mouth, Edo Period (early to mid 19th century). This extremely rare green slate pendant is 3 1/8" in diameter and is from Eastern Oklahoma dating to the Mississipian Period. The incised motifs are two antler-headed panther rattlesnakes with weeping/forked eye, four hands with eye in the palm and a central stylized eye. Each hand is set so that the fingers point in one of the sacred directions. The entire outside edge is incised with lines reminiscent of the shell mask hairlines and there are four stylized antlers at the four directions...

Genuine antique Shan lacquer box circa late 19thCE. Most Burmese lacquer being offered on the internet purported to be antique are vintage at best and new at worst. I acquired this in Yunnan, China along the Burmese border but of Shan (nationality in China). Although there is some damage the craftsmanship is exquisite which is why I put a grain of sand in a couple of the images to put the work into perspective...
