This is the second of 4 small individual antique Chinese carvings which I am listing separately. I had always assumed them to be 4 of the eight immortals but upon close inspection, I am now not sure which gods, ancestors or legends they represent. Each character stands with its own faithful foo type dog and carries an implement of some kind. Each has a peg on the bottom which fits into the own homemade stand. Small Japanese wooden netsuke /okimono of a standing monkey; hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil; well carved with natural himatoshi behind leg; inlaid eye; good condition

Large 19th century rice or vegetable basket made by the mountain people from northern Luzon, the largest island in the Philippine archipelago. This coil basket is perfectly symmetrical has nice warm patina. The coil weaving technique, materials (finely split rattan and nito vine), and design are consistent with baskets made by the Kalinga tribe. Rare and important head of a bearded apostle, his face showing a strong and passionate expression. Polychrome wood. Eyes made of glass painted inside. Of Spanish origin, dating back to the 18th century, this head was found in the Philipines in 1978, together with the centurion head (see our stock number 1-1013 ). Height: 29 cm. This superb carved ivory page turner is an early 19th century product. On one side there is a very well carved garden scene and figures; a textured pattern covers the other side. It is 12 ¼” long, 1 5/8” wide and a little less than quarter of an inch thick (measured from the handle). It has a great patina. Aside from one hair line crack on the back, it is in excellent condition.

A lovely little set of three smaller axes, one likely German or Northern Europe, dark bronze hardstone and finely polished (9,8 cm), a nice green stone Meso-American celt, also neolithic period (6,2 cm), and lastly a pointed butt type, likely ancient Near East or Northern Africa (7,8 cm). Interesting lot that needs more study!

This is a very nice egg wash chintz brown calico bag with a tan linen lining. It has a ribbon trim across the top and around the edges of the bag. The edges only have a little of the ribbon trim left, it has worn off over the years. The bag is in really good shape and is not fragile, it could be really used. Or great to use to store items while hanging off a hook or peg rack. 10" by 13" not including the straps. Circa 1870-80
