This unusual Japanese lacquer clam shell is from Wakasa, a center for exceptional lacquer craftsmanship which began during the Edo period. At that time the lacquerers of the Obama clan, near Wakasa Bay, began decorating their work with designs depicting elements of the ocean floor, For techniques, the Wakasa craftsmen developed a process of repeated lacquer coatings of several colors and rubbing down the lacquer coated surface...

A Korean blue and white porcelain water dropper. Cube form with bracket feet on the four corners, a spout along the top edge on one side, and a whole (for displacement) near center top. Painterly floral decoration within line border on the sides. Geometric flower head decoration on the top. Stable cracks, a couple surface chips, and loss to the spout. All dimensions about 2 1/4 inches (5.715 cm) except for the height which is about 2 1/8 inches (5.39 cm). Joseon dynasty.

This is a 19th Century, Dear Horn Antler Netsuke in the form of a Seated Monkey that is holding its young on its lap with both hands in a protective manner, with a tender look on its face. Impressive chimney himotoshi, common of Edo period netsuke, that starts in the back of the monkey and continues to a large opening on the bottom of it. Wonderful. rich patina. Unsigned. Absolutely the most beautiful American Victorian dresser I've ever seen! Made by Mitchell & Rammelsberg circa 1870, this mahogany dresser is 9'3" tall, by 60" wide, by 25" deep. It has three long drawers over another hidden drawer, and all interiors are maple. Pictured in Dubrow's book "Styles of American Furniture," there is one like it in the Newark Museum. The carving of a women's head at the very top is just beautiful. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Wonderful 46 cm and 8,16 kg heavy Chinese bronze Guanyin Buddha from our Buddha collection, made in the 18th century.

The Guanyin (Kwan Yin) is wearing a long robe and is sitting with two hands hidden in the clothes, holding a reel. Very smooth and kind expression. Although the statue is hollow inside it is very heavy.

On her back marked the period of "Qian Long". A really very rare bronze collection, can't find from other places...
