An exceptionally small Japanese tea or wine bowl and saucer, Edo period c 1710. Blood and milk iron red and gilt decoration of butterflies, flowers and swirls. Height of cup 1 ¼ " / 3.2 cm Diameter 2 ¼ "/ 5.5 cm, of saucer 3 ½ "/ 8.8 cm. Condition: repair to the saucer, the cup with a nick to the inner side of the foot rim (c.f. pics).
An Islamic seal in a terrific quality and extra large size, probably Persian, c. 17th.-18th. cent. AD or earlier!
Engraved with finely caligraphy, round seal base with a tall domed handle, pierced at the top.
Size: 43 mm. in diameter and 40 mm tall.
Condition: Good Very fine, lovely redish patina.

Historically, fusuma were often painted with scenes from nature such as mountains, forests, or animals. The traditional scale of the door is 5'7". The Hinoki wood panels are painted with Rimpa paint and flecks of gold, creating a mist. The floral composition is with camellia, cherry blossom, hollyhock, and chrysanthemums.
The camellia flowers symbolize young sons and daughter. Tsubaki (camellia) symbolizes the divine, faithfulness and longevity...
Edwardian Georgian sterling silver mug. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1916. Baluster bowl with leaf-capped double-scroll handle and round stepped foot. Large with nice heft and plenty of room for engraving. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and pattern no. 19191 (first produced in 1916). Very good condition.

The winged scarab was also a common motif on mummy masks and coffins, representing rebirth. Along with the 4 Sons of Horus, it too would have been placed on the beaded netting, usually placed over the heart.

Late 18th to early 19th century silver tribal Indian amulet with low relief depiction of a male god and his consort. Pendants of that type are known as patris, they were made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan and Gujarat for good luck and protection. On front acid-etched ornament with dense and fluid leafing scrolls and berries; sides plain. With velvet back and hinged easel support for vertical display. An nice earthenware bowl with incised decoration in a white slip and painted in green and manganese in a yellowish glaze (Bamiyan type), afghanistan, 12th. century (Pre 1221 A.D.).
With carinated walls, pseudo-caligraphy and symethric decorations in high relief. As typical for the most boldest specimens, the green colours are sort of splashed on.
