This 45-70 cartridge case was found with a metal detector by a friend of mine at the "Dull Knife Battle Site" fought in November, 1878 from the "Big Hole in the Wall" area in Wyoming.

Rare c.1880-1890 Numerous reproductions exist. This is one of the few real 1900 century mermaids that this gallery has seen. Excellent condition. Some rust as expected. Some paint loss. 9.5" length.

A four drawer lacquered gyosho tansu. The tansu has metal work advertising the medicine the peddling merchant was selling. The medicine, soge-nuki kusuri (written on the box) aids in removing splinters. The medicine was made by Shiota Nadaya Juzaemon who was based near Takabashi, Shinbashi in Osaka city. Three well painted Shunga scenes with a loving couples. Silk with ink and colors. Fitted on traditional, gold-spotted cardboard. Meiji, ca. 1880. H 17 cm, W 19 cm. Condition: One in very good condition, the other two : over-all quite good. Minor spots.

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the stylized Gumbai handles and full moon lock plates. 6 drawers of varying sizes allow for generous storage. Sliding doors open to a split level compartment where merchant business books and records were kept. Hinged security door to the lower right hides two additional small drawers where store valuables were kept...

This is a leaf from a design album. It shows the lower portion of a kimono with a design of pine needles and plum blossoms. Good condition.

Rare 19th century Irish cut crystal footed master salt with a fluted body and a handsome roll over collar. The bottom of the foot has micro abrasions. It is not signed Waterford, but early Waterford was not marked. In excellent antique condition, it measures 3.25" high, bowl 3" diameter. A must have for the collector. Circa 1840-50

An antique Japanese Nihonmatsu Kasane Tansu (stacking 2 section chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware featuring Warabite style handles and hints of aged red lacquer. Very spacious storage with a hinged door that secures 3 small drawers. Constructed using Japanese joinery techniques and hardened wooden nails.

Antique Indian miniature painting of a scene with two beautiful ladies in a courtyard. It appears that the ladies picnic has been disturbed by the antics of a cat and bird. At their feet is a spread of fruit and wine. Also a small cage. One could imagine a scene where the bird has escaped and is being chased by the cat. The women pursue the cat and the escaped bird. White doves fly in the blue sky above the walls of the inner courtyard. Painted in gouache on paper...

Antique Japanese choba tansu made of solid quartered sawn keyaki (zalkova) wood with burl wood front. The upper portion of the tansu has a large full-width drawer and another full-width drawer on the bottom. The right hand side has three small exterior drawers. The middle section has sliding panels with unusually fine vertical slats. The interior has 3 small drawers in a vertical row...

Antique Indian Mughal album leaf miniature painting most likely of the Emperor Jahangir on horseback. A halo and bejeweled crown imply his Imperial rank. Jahangir was ambitious about taking over the reign of his father, Akbar the Great, and the two were at odds until reconciling later in life. Akbar was a patron of the arts and it was he who brought together the Indian and Persian artists who defined the genre of Mughal miniature painting...

19th century Asakusa school staghorn netsuke of obihasami type carved with a design of a woven fence. The hooks at the top and bottom of the piece go around the edges of obi - a sash holding a kimono. Excellent clever and subtle piece typical of Asakusa school, warm patina, darker porous areas as is usual with staghorn. Wonderful representative piece for a collection of different netsuke types. Length 4 1/8 inches.

This Indo-Persian antique silver repousse lidded container box was probably intended for cosmetics. The elaborate design work is flawless and the attention to detail were hallmarks of luxury items made during the late 19th century in both India and Persia. There are 2 makers marks and some scratches on the bottom of the box. See picture

The box is 3.5 inches in diameter and is 1.5 inches high

Edo Period Japanese woodblock print triptych by Kunisada (also known as Toyokuni III) depicting actors portraying a scene from the kabuki theater. Published by Yamazakiya Seishichi in 1855. Each panel bears the signature "Toyokuni ga" in a red cartouche with yellow snow, a publisher's seal, date seal, and censor's seal (see enlargement 5). Each panel measures about 14 1/2"V x 9 3/4" - 10"H. Very good overall condition with margins...
