Late 19th Century Japanese cloisonne bronze charger with a flock of flying cranes. Beautifully designed, it measures 12 inches in diameter. Porcelain Chinese figurine of Tsao Kuo Chiu, who is a patron saint of theatrical profession. Richly decorated in polychrome enamels, Tsao Kuo Chiu is one of the 8 Immortals. We have never seen a theatrical monkey at the base, but he is a nice addition to this very unique 19th century Chinese figurine. Marked CHINA on the bottom, we are dating him Circa 1900. In excellent condition, he measures 7.5 inches tall.

On the back of the stand there is an inscription : This is a statue (or carving) or Kwanyin, for Mr. Wang (??)'s wife, Mrs. Chao (??). 2nd day, 4th month Daoguang 10th year (1830 A.D.). Very interesting with a bird-headed deity seated in front of a fierce winged demon standing on the back of an animal; with multiple creatures, insect-like and other animals on the entire surface.
