This is a very fine small Japanese cloisonne vase done in the style of early Namikawa cloisonne pieces. This vase like Namikawa works has butterflies, high sheen mottled enamels and gilt wires. Even so we believe it was probably made by Honda. This heavy piece stands 4 3/4 inches and the condition is nearly mint.

A large betel-box "kun it" with one internal tray, made of woven and coiled split bamboo covered with lacquer. The slightly domed lid and the drum with yun decoration of king and court scenes and several inscriptions. The interiors with plain cinnabar red lacquer. Condition: traces of usage, some age cracks and wear, rim and lacquer losses, lid with a damaged area. Dimension: diameter: c. 23 cm, 21.3 cm high. Provenance: Swiss collection.

A rather curious dish produced at the Shida kiln in Arita made for the Japanese domestic market that contains a rebus and the mon for the famous Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo V, who was described as having the eye balls of a fresh Lobster from his characteristic wide eyed acting performances.
It was presumably made for sale as a souvenir at the theatre...

Pair of English brass Georgian telescopic ejector candlesticks, c.1800. Size: 6.75" - 9.25" height x 3.5" x 3.5". Condition: Some tiny stress cracks to the top of the lower section of one candlestick (see photos detail). Also, one stick requires extra effort to get it to remain in the fully extended position and probably required some sort of new dampening material to keep it in place.

A decorative Temmoku glazed bowl with a raised decoration of a Dragon and Lingzhi.
Most probably Japanese and probably from the seventeenth or eighteenth century. There is an incised signature to the piece which could give final clarity to the educated among us.
