Extraordinary portrait quality face with a slight smile, superb carved textile patterns on his robe, clever use of ink to highlight his hair. Oni mask in dark brown patina lacquered wood with finely sculpted details.
The expression of the mask, although funny, is imbued with a slight fear, creating a balance between the comical and the disturbing. The painted glass eyes add a magnetic depth.

An exceptionally large cylinder seal, carved in white limestone of a compressed oval shape, Jemdet Nasr period, 3300-2900 BC.
Very interesting shape, probably made to imitate the shape of a human eye, that is frequently used in decorations on Jemdet seals.
The seal is carved in high relief with wavy lines and elongated eye-symbols.

2 sterling tupu or shawl pins, Peruvian in origin, appear to be older and used examples, likely date to 19th century, in the style that has been utilized since the pre Hispanic era by the Inca culture.
Measure: Larger is 8" long and 1 5/8" wide in bowl; smaller is 7 1/4" long and 1 1/8" wide.
Both are incised with designs and have loops on each side, these sometimes held other ornamental items attached with small chain.

Tall and slender vase of heishi-shape made of fine, light brown stoneware, covered in a multi color purple flambé glaze. Over this in mostly white enamel a scene is painted of a large, partially deconstructed/built up skeleton, tied to sticks, and a host of small skeletons dancing and running around it between small clouds of gold dots.
The shoulder of the vase decorated in blue, white and greenish enamels and gold with leaf-like shapes, meandering lines and dots.
