Ca. early 1700s

This panel displays a scene of two people in a landscape setting, one holding a flute and the other holding a fan. It was later bordered with a black silk band which has slightly separated from the panel in two areas at the top and bottom, as seen in the photographs. There are also some old stains that have little effect on the image.

Height: 13 ½ in., Width: 8 ½ in.

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC. An elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with a Zoomorphic beast terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor.

Size: 11,2 cm.

Condition: Superb! Wonderful dark-green patina.

A Sterling Silver Berry or Serving Spoon by Reed and Barton in the Jacobean Pattern (1911). Length, 8.75:, weight 3 ounces; bowl 3.5" x 2.5". Excellent condition

Seal of oval shape, with an incised design representing a reclining deer surrounded by floral and geometric decoration. Bronze with partly encrusted reddish-green patina. Indus Valley CIvilisation, ca. 3000 B.C. Length: 3.1 cm. Good condition.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufacturer, or KPM, in the late 19th century. The saucer is 5 1/4 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/8 inches deep. The cup is 2 inches high. The set has this interesting shape that was used at the Meissen factory. There is a cute handle with curlecues that is so fragile. The set is decorated with tiny flower buds in monochrome orange. There is lacy gilding on the inside rim of the cup...

Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) embroidered Chinese textile rank badge (also called mandarin square) denoting the third civil rank symbolized by the bird on the badge - the Peacock. Designs on background include peach, pomegranate, fish, shell and bats in flight among clouds and above the fungus of Immortality over the waves. Keyfret borders with peach, pomegranate and Buddha’s hand citron motifs, colors slightly faded, newer black velvet backing. Size 9x9.5 inches.

A rare 3 Tical Brahmani duck or Old Mon Duck of the early style, Burma, c. 1480-1520 AD.

The bird finely incised on the wings and stands on a round base.

Weight: c. 39,17 grams = probably 3 Tical, which fits scale at the period of around 13 grams/unit. A very rare weigth!

Condition: Near Very fine, wear but a lovely brown and red patina, attractive!

Japanese Meiji period "omocha-e" (toy picture) woodblock print illustrating various kitchen and restaurant products and furnishings available in the late 19th century. Chefs and waitresses are demonstrating their use. The title and artist's name (unidentified) are in black ink at the top margin. Offered are three C1905-1930, hickory shaft golf clubs from Edinburgh, Scotland.

The first club, a ladies' MASHIE iron, is stamped with the following: "HENDRY & BISHOP Ltd. - EDINBURGH - Made in Scotland - Warrented Hand Forged - SPECIAL (L) with the MITRE BRAND" cleek mark. This circa 1930 club has a handsome construction and measures 35 inches to the heel. The straight hickory shaft sports a nice patina, and its original leather grip is in good condition...

Stunning 2nd Empire pink opaline glass chalice with gilt and enamel decoration. The outside surface has a matte finish except along the lip, the foot rim and the knop rim, each of which is decorated with gilt lines. The primary decoration, however, fills nearly the entire surface with built-up layers of gilding accented with black enamel. The base has a slightly concave polished pontil.

English large deep Porcelain Soup Plate, wide wine Burgundy color rim with raised Gold Decoration with beautiful and high quality raised gold sprigs of leaves and Berries, accented with raised gold border lines, Ca. 1900, 10" diameter, 1 1/2" high, photos can not capture the beauty and high quality raised gold work. Marked faded blue and impressed mark "England" on the bottom, same mark as #1389822. The condition is good.

Late Qing Dynasty Chinese soapstone sculpture carved as a court lady holding a basket with fruit. Wonderful precise carving, beautiful tranquil face, elegant flow to the lines of her robe. Cream colored soapstone with red patches, great warm patina, marked with two carved characters on the bottom, in excellent condition. Height 3.64 inches.

This pair is part of a collection we are posting on the site. These are often misidentified as crossbow arrow ends. However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols. The protruding hooks put tension on the strings or straps that were attached to the skin of the parasol. This is a pair of parasol tips that look nearly identical except for one being longer than the other...

Stunning single-vase epergne in blue opaline glass. The deeply ruffled edges of the trumpet vase contrasts with the gentler ruffle of the lower bowl. The coloring is particularly nice.

Origin: probably France, possibly England, c. 1840. Condition: the very bottom of the trumpet is broken off, but when the trumpet is in place, the break is below the juncture with the lower bowl and no problems are visible (there is a remote possibility that this damage was in the making); otherwise excellent...

19th century/Meiji period Japanese small Satsuma ceramic teapot with cover. An attractive large stamp seal of the stylized scaraboid form, oval with a round back and carved in the base in deep relief with a standing lion, tail lifted and a bird with spread wings above it's back, Mesopotamia, Middle-Assyrian period, later 2nd. millenium BC.
