An unusual Arita dish with an out-turned rim decorated in a greyish toned under-glaze blue with a Chinese Export Qianlong “Chinoiserie” style pattern featuring a conventionalised landscape of Pagoda and Islands surrounded by two bands of diaper containing four floral sprigs, Peonies and Chrysanthemums...

A Namasu or small serving bowl in revived Kakiemon style decorated with a depiction of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove in low moulded relief; here represented by just two of them. The Sages were synominous with a hedonistic lifestyle of drinking and poetry. The foliate rim of the dish with a fuchi beni, brown glaze. The central roundel in the well of the bowl decorated with a Namban or Tojin style figure of a European with a two legged long tailed dog like creature...

A dish of auspicious shuronagata, hemp palm form, decorated in gilt outlined enamels with Bamboo and Prunus, emblematic of the season of Spring and the New Year. The reverse decorated with three pairs of ribbon tied shippo, and a six character reign mark for the Chinese Emperor Chenghua. The base of the dish supported by set of 4 spur marks distributed in a Y shaped form. The dish was probably produced at the Kakiemon kiln in the Nangawara valley...

A decorative and colourful Arita nagazara or long dish decorated with a central botan-mon, double Peony motif with alternating panels of Chrysanthemums and under-glaze blue Chrysanthemum leaf arabesques, and Shishi, lion dogs, set against an iron red Peony Petal ground. The dish is good condition, with the exception of a small shallow flake to the top left hand corner of one of the dishes...

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1500 BC, XVIII Dynasty, 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of violet-blue steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Interesting early scaraboid stamp seal, shaped as a stylized Egyptian Scarab, North-Eastern Anatolia / Western Mesopotamia, c. 3rd. mill. BC.

A hexagonal moulded small bowl or mukuzuke decorated with alternating panels of Buddhist Lions and Peonies painted in a limited three colour palette of iron red, green and yellow enamels and a Camelia flower to the interior of the bowl based on a Chinese wucai pattern of the late Ming period. A cheerful auspicious pattern celebrating the season of spring. The Buddhist lions rendered as playful characters rather than as fierce guardians...

Excellently potted japanese porcelain dishes, decorated in underglaze Cobalt blue with a nice landscape scenery. Nabeshima - style, Meiji Period 1868 - 1912 ) Diameter : 20,8 cm. Condition : No crack, but each of the dishes has a small chip which is old repaired in Kintsugi technique ( Japanese Gold Lacquer repair.) Provenance : Old German collection. ( All in all we do have 4 pieces of the same kind of dishes on offer ( 2 pairs )).

Wood Sumikiri-bon with red urushi. Summikiri means a tray whose four corners are cut. Four sides have painted in Negoro style which has partly black urushi. Used and some scratches and chips in both sides . Late 19th to early 20th century. 36.5cm x 36.5cm x 3.5cm

Kake-fukusa, a gift cover, used on the occasion of auspicious events. It is made of tapestry weave silk with two performers motif, one is wearing Daikoku costume with a gavel. Two men look Kado-tsuke, strolling musicians or performers who play dancing and music in front of houses and get some money. In good condition but damage in the black Eboshi (hat) of the man with a fan. Meiji period (1868~1912) 62cm x 67cm

Found in the Philippines. This plate features an underglaze motif in animal form with a Chinese character in the center. Measurements: diameter is 17cm (across). Condition: there is some fritting around the edges but overall in excellent condition. Photos by: The Oriental Room®️

A high quality porcelain deep sided saucer decorated with an untied bouquet of flowers slightly off center and two small blossoms on either side of the bouquet. The underside inside the foot is impressed with the Nymphenburg mark, the letter “K” and the fraction “1/7”. The saucer is 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) diameter.

Condition: No chips cracks hairlines or repairs. Some very light scratching on the inside of the saucer and a couple of very minor firing flaws.

An oak leaf shaped moulded dish of six-sun size in “Ko Sometsuke” style decorated in underglaze blue with three seated figures sitting around a low table with a typical Chinese style landscape of mountainous islets in a costal setting with a Ting, small pavilion in the foreground. The reverse decorated with prunus blossom sprigs and a seal for the Kameyama kiln in the centre of the foot-ring. Dating late Edo, Tenpo era...

Distressed Japanese Iki mask with crystal eyes. Gofun finish over dry lacquer composition. Details including veins, wrinkles and furrows. The surface is in a distressed state with significant losses and some 'alligatored' texture possibly from exposure to elements. Would make a worthy conservation project for someone with the patience to recoat and touch up losses (the missing left ear being most challenging.) Length, about 9 1/4 inches (23.49 cm)

Cotton cloth with katazome pattern which is called "Narumi-Kongata", imitating Arimatsu-Narumi shibori pattern. It is called "Urumi-zome among craftspeople. It uses plural stencils and requires high dyeing technique. In good condition but has two mending patches for the cut which used to be the neck part and in one side of selvedges. The Meiji period (1868 to 1912). W:33cm, L:180cm
