This 19th century ivory carving of a young woman wearing a straw hat and holding a fish is 11” high (13 1/2” high with hardwood base), 2 ¾” wide and 2” thick. This young woman is the central figure in a well-known Chinese opera called “The Fisherman’s Revenge” (Da Yu Sha Jia). The story concerns an old fisherman was threatened by a ruthless provincial governor. The governor insisted that the fisherman marry off his beautiful daughter to become the governor’s concubine...

The three legs are the form of Chinese mystical beast’s 饕餮 (Tao Tie) face and claws. The two handles are the image of Pi Xiu 貔貅 and the top is a form of Foo Lion. The body is covered with floral designs; cloud patterns appear on the top rim of the burner. There is an honorable “Qian Long Nian Made” mark on the bottom...

Japanese bronze cast in imitation of a Chinese zun form ritual wine beaker. The archaistic style ritual vessel appears to have been cast in three sections, each of which is divided by vertical openwork flanges into four panels of relief cast and carved decoration. Aesthetic Movement mixed metal copper basket featuring twig and vine bronze handle with a bronze bird perched on the edge. Design on basket is reminiscent of patterns seen on Japanese textiles. An unusual work of art that can be used for fresh flowers when not on display. No condition issues, it measures 7.75" high, 8" wide, and 5.5" front-to-back.

Mold number 913 size C with incised decoration of squares in a band at the shoulder of the vase. Vase is a yellow clay body, covered in a green to red Butterfat matte glaze. Flame Mark, with numerals for 1915, mold and size, with finishers mark for Ewan. Height of vase is 9 inches. Very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs; some minor surface blemishes (paint spots, rub marks). Circa 1915
