Boxed French Silver 5 piece Serving Set;13.7 Troy ounces total. Consists of a Carving Knife (12.5" marked Paris Acier Fondu), Carving Fork (11"), Salad Set (silver with ivory bowl and tines), both Fork and Spoon 11", and a Cake Server (11.25"). All silver stamped with the French Minerva mark as well as an axe in a diamond and the initial AH-presumably maker. Late 19th century. In original blue silk lined presentation box. Outstanding American late Classical mirror framed in solid well-figured mahogany with a gilt applied composition border of bellflowers. The gilding has a particularly rich patina. The glass is old and 1/4" thick, but probably not original, and has dulled to a very nice patina. The plate is backed with a wood panel that is covered with paper. The nails holding the plate in place have been replaced.

Origin: America, probably mid-Atlantic region, ca. 1840...

A fine sterling silver gravy ladle in the 1892 “Richelieu” patterns by Tiffany & Co. This is one of Tiffany’s great early patterns and is very sought after today. It is distinguished by shell motifs at the handle and pendant bellflowers that lead down the stem. The flattened bowl is elegantly gadrooned to match the scalloped edge. The back is marked with Tiffany’s hallmark in use 1891-1902.
