This bronze depicts King Louis XIV in his royal robes and other regalia, standing next to a table containing a small coffer, to which he points, with a key in his hand. The backing over the table contains other French and royal insignia, including a shield and crown. The sculpture is cast in three sections, with some welding evident on the back. It measures 16" high x 17" wide, and is 6 1/2" deep. The casting is fine and well detailed, and there are no losses or cracks to the bronze...

This set is in their Byzanta Ware series and depicts trees and flowers in a kaleidoscopic style view on the 9-1/2" console bowl and twin trees on the 7-3/8" tall candlesticks. Each piece has the Grimwades mark, and each piece retains all of the lustre and decoration. A beautiful set and scarce with all three original pieces...
