A Viennese cold painted bronze figural, mid to late 19th century. Depicts a young girl seated in a chair and playing with a small cat that is on the girl's lap. The girl is laughing at the cat as she plays with a fringed stick that the cat is grabbing. Another cat is located underneath the girl's chair - probably wishing it could be playing as well. Late Meiji to early Showa (1895-1930) period Satsuma covered bowl. Measures 8 3/4" diameter and is 5 1/4" high with the cover on. Decorated in a moriage pattern with young boys (Karako) playing at various pastimes, highly detailed painting interspersed with raised white moriage dots. The interior of the bottom and the lid are both decorated with an elaborate scene of birds flying amongst a profusion of flowers. Excellent condition with no cracks or chips or restorations.
