What with their bows and their beading Margot de Taxco's "cornflower" earrings are the epitome of retro elegance. The set presented here is, I believe, the smaller version of the design but I love it for its easy-to-enjoy size and the wonderful patina that enhances the sculptural appeal of the floral dangles. A classic in Margot's repertoire, the pair is always "en vogue" and adds that distinct quality to one's appearance that makes heads turn...

This amethyst ring is an iconic Antonio Pineda design, shown on p. 154 of Silver Seduction. It's a mid-century piece, collector quality, with perfectly matched amethyst cylinders which are channel set in a thick and chunky 970 silver setting. The stones are perfectly matched in color, and this ring can be worn by either a man or a woman. Measures 7 1/4 on a ring sizer, although because of the thickness and width of the band it will fit slightly smaller...

It's almost the middle of August but this vintage Antonio Pineda brooch makes me think of leaves twirling in the wind filling the world with the fiery golds and reds of Fall. It is characteristic of the design genius inherent in some maestros that they can take a simple, familiar form and put such a twist to it (in our case literally), the form turns into a little work of art. This is a very sculptural brooch, the sense of motion it holds within it strong, its patina to die for...

Enrique Ledesma was known for the use of beautiful stones and impeccable workmanship. This bracelet is a published design in Penny Morrill books on the subject of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The stones are magnificent showing only natural lines to the stones. I really could not capture their beauty with my camera. The barrels are all straight showing off the crisp condition as well. The length is 7in. long and one inch tall. The hallmark is rubbed but there...

Doris Silver has a rare story in the period of the Mexican Silver Renaissance of being a store that allowed walk in artists to design and manufacture their jewelry. I LOVE this signed Los Castillo bracelet! It has to be a Margot design while married to Antonio Castillo. The design number is an early one being #228. The almost 2 inch clasp is the crowning touch to the 7mm beads of 3 strands. Fitting nicely with a bit of a drape to the hang it has a 7.75in. wearable length. There is some patina showing on the beads that may make it look as though the bead is cracked but it is not. The barrels for the closure pin follow the line of the large silver clasp and t...

Rare Mexican Deco silver repousse figural necklace, its five graduated links featuring what I believe to be a neo-Aztec interpretation of Cinteotl, one of the three goddesses of corn and fertility. Bare-breasted and kneeling in a corn field, holding in her hands an ear of maize and adorned with earrings and a pendant necklace, it is in fact two different figures that we are looking at; while the bodies and what surrounds them is the same, the jewelry and the faces themselves are different. I hav...
