This is the Sun and Star Pin/Pendant with Cabachon Amethysts by Antonio Pineda. It is featured on page 178 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill. She dates it c. 1945. This is a bold and impressive piece measuring 3" diameter. The central amethyst cabachon is 3/4" diameter and it is surrounded by 10 smaller cabachon amethysts. This is a very early and unusual 990 silver and turquoise cuff bracelet by Hector Aguilar. I have never seen this piece before and have not found it pictured in any of the Mexican silver books so believe it to be quite rare. There are 6 bezel set cabachon turquoise stones framed with vertical lines that alternate with a pattern of incised wavy horizontal lines.The stones are beautiful and appear to be all original. A superb three dimensional sterling and amethyst hinged cuff by Taxco silversmith Margot De Taxco. One of William Spratlings' most recognizable pieces is this Aztec figure pin with a large amethyst. Circa 1940, it is featured on page 39 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill. Measuring 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide, most of the surface of the pieces is the large square cabachon amethyst which measures 1"long and 5/8" wide. A stunning and powerful sterling and amethyst drop necklace by Taxco silversmith Antonio Pineda. The 7 bezel set cabachon amethyst drops are attached on hinges suspending from the silver " X's" and they move. This beautiful pin was modeled from Hubert Harmon's "Angel Brooch", which was taken from the escutcheon on the doorway of the Casa del Corazon in Taxco.The Harmon brooch is featured on page 107 of the catalog from the exhibit MAESTRO DE PLATA, WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE.
