This is the Sun and Star Pin/Pendant with Cabachon Amethysts by Antonio Pineda. It is featured on page 178 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill. She dates it c. 1945. This is a very early and unusual 990 silver and turquoise cuff bracelet by Hector Aguilar. I have never seen this piece before and have not found it pictured in any of the Mexican silver books so believe it to be quite rare. One of William Spratlings' most recognizable pieces is this Aztec figure pin with a large amethyst. Circa 1940, it is featured on page 39 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill. Measuring 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide, most of the surface of the pieces is the large square cabachon amethyst which measures 1"long and 5/8" wide. This beautiful pin was modeled from Hubert Harmon's "Angel Brooch", which was taken from the escutcheon on the doorway of the Casa del Corazon in Taxco.The Harmon brooch is featured on page 107 of the catalog from the exhibit MAESTRO DE PLATA, WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE.
