Slick, modernist Sigi Pineda sterling silver and pearls cuff bracelet, the two pearls lifted above their oxidized background and showcased in a shadow-box asymmetrical opening. This is Sigi at one of his best moments, I believe, the choice of materials a favorite of mine and a combination that Antonio Pineda also benefited from during his career. The cuff has an inner circumference of 6 3/4" (including the 1 3/8" gap) and its width reaches 1 1/16" at center front...

It has a secure push in clasp. The earrings measure 3/4" long and 1/2" wide...

Tulip Buds 468 was designed by Margot Van Voorhies while married to Antonio Castillo at their Taller Los Castillo. The flow of the leaf around the bud, the heft of the silver giving depth and dimension to each link is exactly why this design 468 is so desired. Built on an angle to see each link at it's best and made strong with rivets hold the repousse together for a test of time. No damage or repairs to either the bracelet or the necklace...

Signed in 3 places with early marks is this rare Matilde Poulat necklace. The Matl's center is a tulip with turquoise and coral stones. The bird of choice is the turkey which I believe is the best I have seen turkeys displayed by Matl. The flow into the tulip is majestic. Finger coral adorns the birds along with the tiniest turquoise beads. The length is 18 inches and the drop measures 5.5in. across. It is hard to measure the height of the drop to be exact but I see it closest to 2.75in...

Valentin Vidaurreta is one of the “giants” in Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance. And even though to most his name does not resonate in the way Spratling’s or Aguilar’s or Antonio’s does, his incredible talent and sublime craftsmanship is behind many of the designs we know, admire and covet as creations of those “big names”. The hummingbird brooch at hand is just one of those examples. Influenced by Deco diktats but at the same time almost alive, the bird flexes its muscles and ...
