This is a small yaozhou celadon bowl in the shape of a compressed globular body divided into 12 lobes vertically. It stands on a short foot rim with a recessed based all glazed in olive green colour all the way from the foot rim to the mildy everted mouth rim and to the inside of the bowl.
Some abrasion to the mouth rim of the bowl, uneven glazing and minute snad grits adhesion to the recess base of the footrim as shown in the photographs...

Of buff ware, decorated in cream slip with painted designs in black and red, this aryballos, or perfume/oil vessel, measures 3 1/8" high, and is roughly the same diameter. The paint decoration is worn, and appears to represent a bird figure, with additional geometric designs over the body and top. Aryballoi of this size and form were utilized for perfume or other precious oils, and date to the 6th century BC...
An Edo Period Kozuka (utility knife handle.) Kinko (mixed soft metals) decoration on shakudo alloy with nanako (fish roe textured) background. Depicted in a farmer with horse in water plowing in prepartion to plant rice. A willow or other weeping tree, to one side, not yet with blooms. Nicely detailed with featured highlighted with gold and silver overlay. The water nicely textures with an itame (wood grain) effect. Serviceable, fair to good condition...

CONDITION: a fritting to the rim, no cracks, or hairlines and free from restorations.
