Interesting boat-shaped water vessel with birds-like spout, standing on four feet. Made of brass with brown patina and decorated with floral motifs in relief. Similar examples of this type of kendi in the "Tropenmuseum Amsterdam". Condition: traces of usage. Dimension: 33.4 cm high, 34 cm long.

 

A globular bodied vase painted in dark reddish brown on a white slip. The main body has three large sprays of flowers. A large brown band encircles the shoulder and below the floral sprays are several thin bands - some straight and some wavy. Typical of this type. A rare black and white Ching jade of a sleeping cat. Black and white jades are very rare and the carver uses the two colors to fit the carving making a beautiful black and white cat. It has a hole drilled at the tail and can be worn as a pendant. Size: L. 4.00cm, W. 2.5cm. Condition: No chips or repairs.

Of pale green glass, with handle and rim of blue-green, this jar, or ewer, is nicely formed, with flared neck and ribbon like handle. Measuring 6 3/8" high and 3 1/2" wide including handle, the vessel has interior mineral deposits, and iridescence on the surface. In good condition, with visible hairline below rim and under handle (the photo accentuates the hairline). Has paper tag with previous collection data, and was acquired pre 1970...

Porcelain charger decorated with a scene depicting phoenix and chrysanthemum in the central field, and, around the cavetto, with flower and 3 dragon on the exterior. Width = 30 cm Period : Ming Dynasty Condition :large cracks on the center and free from restoration.

A large Yuan dynasty longquan celadon charger. It is decorated with the incised flower on the center and cavetto. It is in very good condition except restoration to the 3 cm x 1 cm missing part on the rim. Diameter: 36 cm.

A pair of Wooden doors dating from the later Meiji to Taisho period of fine clear grained panels hand-painted with butterflies, birds, and floral dials in brilliant color by Maruyama Oyo in red lacquered wooden frames retaining the original brass hardware. They are made for an opening 141.5 x 180 cm (55-3/4 x 71 inches). They are in overall fine condition. A set of five Porcelain Tea Cups decorated by 5 individual artists from the early 20th century; Tomioka Tessai, Tajika Chikuson, Kamisaka Sekka, Imao Keinen and another as yet unidentfied artist, stamped on the base by the kiln. Each cup is uniquely hand painted by the artist; all stamped on the base by the potter, and come enclosed in a quality custom-made period wooden box. Oversized Japanese "sosaku hanga" woodblock print by Jun'ichiro Sekino (1914-1988) titled "Boy and His Cat." dated 1957. The artist's white ink signature and red seal are at the lower right corner of the image. The edition number 51/100 and the date are in pencil at the left side of the bottom margin. Pair of Japanese Meiji period Arita sometsuke porcelain flower vases (hana-ike) with constricted necks and wide mouths, each decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground with a pair of long-tailed birds perched on rockery beneath flowering leafy trees. Butterflies are in flight on the back of the continuous landscape scene. The interior of the cupped mouth holds three sprays of three flowers each and the exterior is bordered with a ruyi head band...

An 18th-early 19th century Literati landscape featuring a scholars gathering in a forest of pines on one side, a pair of boats pulling up to a hermitage on the other. These are published in the book Jidai Byobu Shuei (pre-restoration, pages 76 and 77). They have been completely restored maintaining the original cloth border and are in superb condition. Each screen measures 70-1/2 x 150-1/2 inches (179 x 382 cm)...

A hermitage lost in the early blossoms of the plum forest, ink and light color inside a wide gold border and mulberry frame typical of the Taisho era. Gold powder has been liberally applied intimating a shimmering mist throughout, creating an ethereal quality. Signed in the upper left corner, it is 68 x 149 inches (172.5 x 378 cm) and in overall fine condition. Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Pottery Horse with Female Rider

This attractive model of a horse and rider was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a grey pottery that has been cold painted in a creamy-white pigment on top of which have been applied other coloured pigments. Note the detail of the female rider's facial features and hairstyle. 

Height 29.5 cm (11.5 inches). It is reasonable to assume that this model has been subject to professional restoration...

The center of the slightly domed cover carved with floral, the details finely incised, covered inside and out with a greenish-olive glaze that continues onto the countersunk base.
