The glaze is crackled overall. The underside is decorated with vertical ribbing. The characteristic unglazed burnt orange ring is within the glazed ringed foot. 10 3/8" diameter x 2" high. Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period porcelain lidded wine pot or ewer moulded in the form of the character "fu" (good fortune) and decorated in famille noire enamels on the biscuit. The body is densely covered in a pattern of green tendrils and chrysanthemums set against a black background. A central figural panel features an attendant fanning the God of Wealth (Caishen). The panel on the opposite side is decorated with the God of Longevity (Shoulao or Shouxing) holding a staff...

A nice Ming dynasty 17th century Zhangzhou ware blue and white bowl, decorated with an egret at interior center, outside is plain white. Condition is very good, just found a tiny flake chip to the base, further in perfect condition. Diameter: 11.6cm.

Dark blue ground with decorations in gold and green, seberal colorful scenes with Chinese figures playing Go, making music, riding horse etc. The back of the bowl with dark blue scrolls on a lavender ground. Diameter 41,5 cm. H. 11,5 cm. Condition: very good, apart from some age cracks, wear and a chip on the back of the bowl, some pieces of enamel missing, due to the firing process. Overall in a very good condition.

A fine small blue and white bowl painted with the three friends of winter consisting of the pine, bamboo and prunus rendered in varying tones of blue pigment enclosed by a double line border just below the rim and another at the bottom of the bowl. The interior is decorated with prunus spray. Ming Dynasty Diamater = 14 cm Condition : no chips, hairlines or cracks and free from restorations.

Fine & Rare Large Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Box (206 BC - AD 220)

This rare pottery box was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is a two-part box made from a grey pottery. The cover has been elaborately decorated by "cold-painting" a base coat of creamy-white pigment on top of which have been various coloured pigments, mainly red, white and black, but there are also traces of green and purple pigments...

Of Janus form, with faces and bird beaks on opposing sides, this large food storage vessel is from the Chambri Lakes region, near the Sepik River in New Guinea. Formed of the local clay by the women, the decoration and paint was applied by the men, in honor of ancestral beings. Utilized to store the flour of the sago palm, the vessels were also used as currency in trading with other indigenous groups. The vessel is 13 3/4" high and slightly wider, from tips of bird beaks...

A nice blue and white Kraak type dish with thinly potted, decorated with Goose in the center. Late Ming dynasty 17th century. Condition is near perfect, only minor fretting to rim, no crack and free from restoration. Diameter: 21.9cm.

Korean Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) painted portrait of a seated scholar official executed in ink and color on paper. At the center of the robe is a rank badge holding a crane, indicating the gentleman is a civil official. The calligraphy states the bearded official is 41 years old. The painting is bordered with white silk and framed (no glass). 19th century or possibly earlier. Framed size: 41 1/2"V x 25 3/4"H (painting size: 20 3/4"V x 19 7/8"H)...

Chinese Republic period rectangular form traveling scholar's white brass "paktong" (baitong) ink box with rounded corners finely incised on the top lid with five vertical lines of calligraphy encircled by a band of archaic form characters all centered over a background of blossoming branches. The inscription addresses the appreciation of fine quality calligraphy...

 

A pear-shaped "Famille rose" porcelain teapot and cover with molded decoration of two rows of petals and applied lotus flowers and leaves, in between painted with cockerels, deers, fishes and egrets. Dating to the Yongzheng or early Qianlong period. Condition: good, some chips to the applied decoration (please look at the last four photos) spout with a tiny chip. Chinese Republic period baluster form porcelain vase decorated in famille rose enamels with three large bird and flower roundels spaced evenly around the shoulder. The roundels feature two birds, two ducks, and two quail set among bamboo and flowering plants. A rare and unusual copper-red dish, decorated to the interior center with low relief of carved incised unglazed biscuit lively three claws Dragon in copper-red ground dish. Base unglazed with short foot rim. Condition is perfect without any chip, no crack and free from restoration. Late Yuan to Early Ming dynasty. Diameter: 27 cm.

Three Chinese late Qing dynasty to Republic period robin's egg (called lu Jun, or "furnace Jun") glazed porcelain scholar's desk articles including a hexagonal form water pot with an applied qilong climbing on the side (about 3" diameter by 2 1/8" high), a ribbon bound triple-gourd vase with three openings (4 1/2" high), and a rectangular brush holder in the form of a stove (2 3/8"L x 1 3/4"D x 1 3/4"H)...

Large and heavy Chinese late Qing dynasty scholar's hardwood box (guanpixiang) suitable for holding documents, seals, ink sticks, and other desktop items. This form of furniture was originally constructed as a jewelry box for ladies, but was also used later as a scholar's box.
