A 17th – 18th century Neko-tora Tiger by Nagasaki school artist Watanabe Shuseki performed with ink and color on paper in yellow bronze silk border with bone rollers. The parchment is aged and gray, giving the sense of a wall painting in some ancient tomb. The scroll is 14 x 63 inches (36.5 x 160 cm). Each chair has a back splat with carved figural panels. Condition: repair to break on one arm, replaced glue blocks on undersides of seats, some scuffing to one side stretcher on base. A bronze Shakyamuni buddha was kept in very good condition.
Had been gilt on the surface but just faded, there are only traces left in the pleats.
It was rarely found that the under cover at the bottom was original when tickling sound was heard inside the hollow base.
It hinted that the original devotion items were still kept within after 600 years.

In earlier centuries, large numbers of "holy men" wandered throughout India's cities and countrysides. The Sadhus were respected as Hindu ascetics who had given up family attachments and material possessions often including clothing. Without shoes and wearing only hand hewn sandals they would wander about some silent and some preaching. Miss matched, this is a typical pair of Sadhu's sandals, hand carved and well worn and polished through years of foot contact.

Two Chinese word Qing Sun(Casually Treasuring) was regularly carved on printing side.
Inscriptions were on the side too.
The stone was in warm brownish tint and in greasy feel.

When carefully examined, the shaped body of this antique ceremonial Tibetan snuff container appears to be animal horn. Decorated with silver and bronze fittings, coral, turquoise and agate beads, this snuff bottle or more accurately, snuff container would have been worn suspended from a chain as a costume ornament by a shaman. A Longquan cup was rarely found with the original cap.
In light-tinted celadon hue(Fenqin), the ware was reflected with retrospective sheen in the glaze when darken firing effects were yielded on the body clay at the foot ring.
It was in very good condition with some crack lines observed in the cup and some imperfections of the glazing.

Decorated on one side with craved motifs of peony flowers and poems on the other side, the brush pot was preserved with Zu-huang(bamboo's inner skin) on the smaller sides.

A wonderful ethnographic folk art object, this style of farm animal bell has been used in Thailand for centuries. Hand carved from wood by the herder and tied around the animals neck this traditional bell is hinged (or pegged) in 2 places to allow for a gentle knocking sound. This one was used for a goat and has remnants of the original hand made rope.
From Ibaden, Nigeria this traditional Yoruba cloth was woven by the men of the village. It was worn tied around the waist of the woman, and used as a baby carrier. This piece was brought back from Africa in 1961. Hand loomed of cotton fibers, it has a wonderful soft color and texture. It measures 10" wide and 68" long including fringe.
