A bronze stag and rider. The rider a bearded and robed scholar - silver inlay adorning his attire. The deer with inlaid spotting - "splashes" of silver and copper. The two together forming an incense burner. Ca 1800. Overall height 7 in., Stag only height (to highest point) 6 3/16 in.

The censer having been over cleaned at least once in its history. Two hands detached from the rider and missing...

Description: A Ming Longquan Li-typed censer was kept in very fine condition. Well mold and heavily glazed, the tripod censer was in typical lake-green tint when whitish ridges were on the body along everted feet. Charming crackles, pinpoints condition and darken hue in portions verified it a true old piece. Brownish red was obvious in the center of the cavetto where the body clay was revealed...

The front of this Tibetan snuff bottle has deep silver repousse with animals and plants. Top stopper has a long copper spoon. The front has a larger circular opening which is fitted with a matching silver repousse stopper decorated with a piece of turquoise. Both the top and front stoppers are tied to the main bottle with a leather thong to prevent loss. The rear has a design deeply etched into the silver surface.

The bottle is roughly 4 inches high, 3 inches across and 2 inches thick.

A very rare relic of a pottery figure was found in original excavation condition.
It was applied with greenish glaze on the surface.
Slight abrasives were caused due to age.

Date: Sui or Tang periods.

A signed Japanese Oribe shallow bowl. Zen landscape decoration of a lone figure in boat with mountain in background and tree over hut in foreground. The decoration in brown wash over crackled opaque white ground with blue-green splashed glaze on two sides of the bowl. A pleasing iridescent-like range of colors from yellow-green to dark-blue as well as iron red are evident in the pleasantly crazed areas of blue-green glaze when inspected closely...

A large Japanese sashi netsuke carved from stag antler, depicting the mythical Chinese fisherman Ashinaga with his long legs. The face is carved very expressively and the natural himotoshi (cord hole) is running through his curled hair. Condition: nice patina. Dimension: 17.8 cm long.

A soapstone sculpture of the Chinese bearded sage Lao Tzu with staff and scrolls (one partially unfurled from the dragon form staff-head and one tied to his belt.) Engraved cloud decoration on the robe and on the hood over curly locks on the figure's high forehead. Three rather tame looking qilin rest at the figure's feet, looking to the sage - two with a heavenly cloud wisp issuing from their mouths indicating they are not of this world and emphasizing the suggestion of longevity...

A latticework Hoya of solid silver caps this fine porcelain koro incense burner, a joint work by Miura Chikusen and Hashimoto Kansentsu, enclosed in the original shiho-kiri-wood box signed by both artists. It is 8.5 cm (3-1/2 inches) tall 11 x 16 cm across the handles (4-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches). Beast heads form the handles with a scholarly hut on one side, a poem in ancient script opposite. It is signed on the base by Chikusen and on the side by Kansetsu...

Rare Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Pack Horse (AD 386 - 534)

This rare and interesting pottery model of a pack horse, or pony, was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" with a base coat of white pigment on top of which has been applied black pigment in places. Note the detail of the pack on its back that includes two water containers and a rabbit.

Porcelain decorated with three floral spray on the flattened rim and a floral spray on the center, glazed base with mark. PERIOD : Qianlong (1735-1795) MEASUREMENTS: 19 cm wide. CONDITION: two hairlines and free from restorations. Good sound when tapping with finger tips.

Description: An exquisite bamboo carving depicted a smiling boy holding a basket which has fishes in it. In fantastic carving skill, the piece was added with more attraction by it's aged patina.
