Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma earthenware vase finely decorated around the circumference in polychrome enamel and gilt highlights with ladies and girls of the nobility engaged in leisure activities in an outdoor garden setting. The vase is moulded with densely decorated relief petals at the top and bottom. Koyama Nanpo mark to base. 6 1/8” high. 19th century. Excellent overall condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. A fine large Qianlong celadon porcelain plate marked. It was decorated with a rebus of fortune, five bats, a rebus of happiness surrounding a central longevity character medallion in cobalt blue on a lustrous celadon glaze. The bottom was marked with the seal mark in underglaze blue and gilt.

Description: A celadon Longquan stem-cup was well molded. By a dark green tint, the glaze was well applied all over the surface except the foot ring. Motifs of flowers and branches were finely incised on the inner wall of the bowl and subtly revealed under the glaze. Authenticating firing red was obvious at the unglazed foot ring and the inside of the looped foot trunk. In quite good size and a perfect condition, the stem cup stands well in a decent look...
