A Ming Zhengde - Jiajing 16th century blue glazed ewer, flattened pear shape body with straight spout and curving handle, the ewer covered with blue glaze.

Beautifully crafted, with the iron surface appearing like stone, this large tetsubin measures 10 3/4" high, 7" wide to tip of spout, with the body measuring 5". The tetsubin is heavily cast, weighing 4 1/2 pounds. The lid is bronze, and is incised with the maker's signature, "Ryubundo", and the elegant handle is inlaid with bronze designs...

A shallow dish, heavily potted, covered in a beautiful celadon glaze producing the crackles of the Geyao type glaze. The recessed base is glazed while the foot rim is dressed with an iron brown wash. Measuring 9 inches high, this delightful example of Folk Art styling, is one of a series of Black cloth character dolls made in Alabama in the 1930’s by unknown craftsmen/women. It has been speculated that their creation was encouraged through FDR’s Depression era program, the Work Projects Administration (WPA), in existence from 1936-1940.

In the mid-1800's, an unknown artist painted the face of a young Black boy in warm, soft colors, and unbeknown to the artist, forever immortalized the young boy's image! Since that time a variety of items were been produced in the image of the "Young Black boy with the Torn Hat" or "Johnny Griffin".

This circa 1920-30's Johnny Griffin item is constructed in solid brass and was designed for use as a pipe rack although it could hold spoons or even neckties...

Height = 22 cm Yue ware, 10th Century Condition : loss to part of spout and one of lugs, no cracks, hairlines and free from restoration. If needed can be restored with USD 50 for professional restoration cost.
