Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Covered Box - Kangxi (Ex.Christie's)

This fine quality blue & white porcelain covered box was made during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. Both cover and box are attractively decorated with floral patterns in underglaze blue of good colour.

It is large example of its type with a diameter of 10.25 cm (4 inches). This box has been excavated from a shipwreck. It was sold at Christie's auction house, London, in February 2000...

A fine large Qianlong celadon porcelain plate marked. It was decorated with landscape and fisherman. The bottom was marked with the character mark in underglaze blue and gilt. Condition : Perfect condition : no chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration. Dating: Qianlong mark and period (AD1735 - 1796); Diameter: 21 cm

In the centre a sculpture of one of the 24 Tirthankaras. The back plate decorated with small sittimg Tirthankaras and attendants. Made in Karnataka or Maharashtra in the 17th or 18th century. Dimensions: 28x17x8,5 cm. Provenance: private collection Belgium.

Early American New England Queen Anne six-drawer tall chest. Circa 1760. Size: 47.75 in. tall x 39 in. wide x 19 in. deep. An attractive small-size early Queen Anne era maple, cherry and chestnut tall chest with 6 finely graduated drawers supported on a bracket base. Brass pulls are old replacements. Mellow surface, some restoration to drawer lips.

Celadon charger small dish with incised flower on the center, and key fret scroll. W = 14.5 cm. Qianlong 1736-1795. Condition : Excellent with a very tiny frit on the rim.

A fine pair of Sheffield Silver Candlesticks by Mathew Boulton c.1790. Boulton a famed English inventor and manufacturer of fine Sheffield Silver Plate. Each candle stick is hall marked with the Boulton touch mark. Measuring 8.5" T x 4.5"W. in very good condition some copper showing through.

This South Indian piece was made in the 18th century and cast in two color bronze. (Ganga-Jumna) This very complicated technique is now lost. H. 12,4 cm Provenance: private collection Belgium

Chinese cloisonne saucer dish. Spring flowers decoration - particular evidenced by peony blooms. Polychrome enamels on bronze with traces of gilt especially just inside the foot rim where less likely to be rubbed. 18th century. A rare pair little cups with branch-shaped gilt copper handles, different flowers finely painted in "Famille rose" on white, base with a flower head. And a lobbed cup on four tiny feet, the four sides painted with a flower reserve between pink ground, the base with a stylised blue dragon. Gold glimmers on the rim against pale concrete tones on this rare mid-Edo period tea bowl from the Utsutsugawa kiln in Nagasaki prefecture, late 17th to early 18th century. Waves of brush strokes decorate the outside, while the white slip cascades from the rim in withering streaks within. A kutsuki on the side testifies to some event which happened during the firing, where another piece of pottery collapsed against the side, fusing and causing the bowl to deform...

Connecticut Queen Anne era highboy, circa 1760s-70s. Cherry/pine. Size: 35 inches wide x 69 inches high x 19 inches deep. A New England 18th century 2-part flat top highboy. The upper chest has five drawers, including one with fan carving, above four graduated drawers; while the base displays a single long drawer over three drawers, with the central drawer front carved with a fan. This is a Berlin porcelain coffee can and saucer, ca 1770-1800, with sceptre mark in underglaze blue; can and saucer each decorated with a central cartouche of classical figures surrounded by gilt borders; faint gilt loss on rims; 3" high.

Decorated with flower sprays on the body. Unglaze concave base. Transitional 1644-1661 Height=11 cm. Condition : restoration to frittings on the rim, no chips, cracks, and hairlines.

A Chinese Ming longquan Zhejiang celadon censer. Robustly potted bombé sides, the exterior is decorated with a cross hatched pattern, the bowl standing on three feet.

Condition: In generally very good condition. No major breaks or chips. There are some very minor surface imperfections due to the use of the item, but nothing that detracts from it's beauty.

A Chinese jade carving shaped as a lotus pod and incised and carved with prunus flowers, the endless knot and a bird in flight. The stone is of celadon hue mottled with russet. This is an elegant and superbly carved composition depicting auspicious objects . Age: 17/18 C. condition: excellent, no breaks no restoration. It comes with a wooden stand. size: 6.5cm x 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm thickness. (2 1/2 inches X 3 inches X 1 2/5 inches).

This portrait is very similar to one attributed to the portrait painter Winthrop Chandler that was published by David A. Schorsch in his exhibition catalog in 1989 and which recently sold at auction at Sotheby's in Sept. 2010.
