Miniature versions of the clamper bracelets in the corresponding designs by-pass or wrap rings are veritable miracles of craftsmanship and attention to detail as well as testimonials to their maker's patience and ability to concentrate. And even though I know all this, some examples still amaze me with their superb quality...

In the style of Matilde Poulat's jeweled hand-mirrors a vintage 1980s piece from Taxco having an ornate frame replete with wirework, beading and topped by two repousse Doves - Matl's favorite "Palomas". The mirror is encrusted with turquoise and coral cabs as well as pyramid-cut amethysts and it has an elongated, teardrop repousse handle. it is 5 1/8" tall by 2 3/8" wide and weighs 40.9 grams...

LOVE LOVE LOVE this Antonio Pineda bracelet. The link with the swirled X'S, the patina and how the aventurine stones GLOW all add up to FANTASTIC. I wish I could get a picture of this mesmerizing stone. It is heavy and weighs in at 74.4 grams and is 7 inches of comfort. A most desirable vintage Mexican silver for collectors and museum quality and the condition is superb with no issues.

Lovely and rich the Los Castillo glyph bracelet always reminds me of Mexican silver at it's best. The weight is 50 grams heavy and is a comfortable 7in. long and 1 inch wide. The silver shows dark in the recesses and top with a gorgeous glow. Take this anywhere and you will be talked about when seen.

A very rare piece of lacquerware, comprising a big container with lid in the center and twelve narrow containers around it, each with a stopper in the shape of a nat (good spirit)and decorated with the Burmese zodiac. Made in the Pagan State, ca. late 19th to early 20th century. H. 31 cm , Diameter 28 cm. Condition: very good, with expected age wear.

This toddler's pants were used by successive siblings and probably several generations of Chinese Miao ethnic minority children. The pants are of handwoven indigo dyed fabric and the legs are decorated with handwoven tape which is sewn into place by hand. The pants are crotchless, which was typical attire for very young children throughout old China.

One of my favorite designs of the so-called "archaeological" genre, I have seen similar pieces bearing Victoria's signature but this one is made by an artist who signs his name with initials "AE" in a heart-shaped "M". Though we don't know much about the specific maker, we do know that his work was appreciated enough by his colleagues that his signature can be found on jewelry by Rancho Alegre and Estela Popowski...

Horacio de la Parra is one of the early Taxco maestros whose work I am constantly on the look out for - I think the bracelet presented here amply illustrates the reasons for that. Though not as prolific as others in jewelry making (Parra is known for his high quality holloware), Parra's repoussage can be down right stupendous. In our case, the complexity of the design and the challenge it poses to the artistry of the silversmith executing it, make his feat even more incredible...

Pair late Qing dynasty porcelain bowls. Overglaze decoration in blue and green enamel of peonies. Also decorated with inscriptions in gilt enamel and chop marks in red enamel. The rims an intentional, attractive caramel colored burnt biscuit. Apocryphal Qianlong seal marks in blue under the glaze. One in good condition with only minor enamel loss and light rubbing inside the bowl. The other also with an old, small area of repair along the outside of the rim...
