"Lady", portrait of a collie by artist Arthur B. Wilder (American, 1857-1949), oil on canvas, signed and dated 1925 in lower right. Size: 24" x 20". Lady was the Wilder family's dog and a favorite subject for Arthur's depictions of home life. He loved dogs and often painted them. An inscription on the reverse reads, "To Junior from Dad 1937." The canvas also retains early labels from when it was loaned to the Woodstock Inn for exhibition...

The central characters, one in the lead the second astride one of the behemoths crossing a bridge is distracted by a butterfly floating by above while the beast in front steps on its own rope, pulling his head back to the viewer with a quizzical expression. Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Prostrate Figure with Inscription
This very rare pottery figure was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a fairly highly-fired creamy-white pottery with features picked out in cold-painted red and black pigments. The figure is prostrate with knees and elbows on the ground possibly paying obeisance to a dignitary or emperor. Note especially the details of the facial features...

A bronze Tanuki dressed in robes and holding a Nyoi (priest scepter) sits yelping into the air, as if surprised at being discovered for his true nature. Dating from the Meiji or possibly Taisho period, it is 10 x 8 x 9-1/2 inches (25 x 21 x 23 cm) and on the base has written in red “4th year” followed by a series of letters to which I have yet to discern a meaning. Likely Meiji 4 (1871).

A 16 X 12 millimeter oval cabochon lapis tops this tailored 1960-s 14Kt yellow gold ring. The bezel set lapis sits on top of a graduated fluted shank. The ring is a size 4 ¾ and it can easily be sized.
