Chinese late Ming (16th/17th century) Zhangzhou (Swatow) porcelain deep charger decorated in iron-red, green, and black overglaze enamels on a cream-colored crackle glaze ground with a central roundel holding flowering peonies. A band containing four floral panels against a crossed line ground extends around the circumference of the rim. 13" diameter x 2 3/4" high. There is significant wear to the enamels and several very old rim chips (see enlargements 6 and 7)...

Japanese Yokohama woodblock print triptych illustrating the interior of an American steamship by Utagawa Yoshikazu (flourished 1850-1870) published by Maruya Jinpachi in 1861. In this design, the artist utilizes the traditional Japanese convention of “roofless architecture” which allows the contents of the ship to be visible. Inside, westerners are seated at a long table having a dinner party. The assembled size is 14 5/8"V x 29 1/4"H (each panel is about 14 5/8"V x 10"H)...

A saintly recluse dozes restfully, his pole dipping to the waves below the rocky outcrop upon which he sits; a fine bronze figure dating to the Meiji period and signed on the reverse. The figure with the rock is 32 x 22 x 30.5 cm (11 x 9 x 12 inches) and is in fine condition.

Interesting antique Persian hand made silver vase exhibiting foliage design, engraving and chisel work is incredibly delicate. This item is 5.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter and weights 130 grams.

Beautiful purse embroidered on both sides in counted stitch with bats in gold thread among blue clouds. Yellow colored drawstring,tassels and silk lining. Condition: fine. Measuring 9 inches high, these delightful examples of Folk Art styling, represent two of a series of Black cloth character dolls made in Alabama in the 1930’s by unknown craftsmen/women. It has been speculated that their creation was encouraged through FDR’s Depression era program, the Work Projects Administration (WPA), in existence from 1936-1940.

Two silver King's Pattern spoons. We acquired these with a larger set (which we are offering separately) some years ago. We aren't calling these sterling as one is not marked and one has worn marks not easily made out (on the back appears to be a worn head mark and very small initials P and Q flanking a worn device and on the front is an indiscernable mark above the bowl.) A stunning fire patinated bronze vase. The mottled verdigris background in contrast with copper red patinated areas of resist in leaf patterns complete with veining to the leaves and texture to the sustaining twigs. This seems to be of a good quality bronze alloy - emitting a bell resonance when lightly struck. Unmarked but consistent with German and Austrian work from the early 20th century. Description:

A crouching Bixie was carved from a pebble of black steatite.
Depicted with protruding eyes, back thrown ears and the broom-like tail, the fairy beast was treated by affluent and sleek carving lines.
An animated form was then vividly rendered. All these were the characteristics for the carvings from Yuan dynasty or earlier periods.
It was kept with very nice patina when some old defects were found. They were caused from the enduring age.
