A rare vintage Victoria double brooch or sweater guard, this set is superbly crafted and has imposing presence. The actual pins themselves are generous in size and carefully cut out of thick silver sheet with deeply chased details and bead accents. Each is centered by a proud repousse semi-sphere and they are connected with two lengths of the best-looking sterling chain I have seen on Mexican jewelry of this type...

Birds chatter, perhaps excited by the promise of Spring from the plum blossoms peeking out of a bamboo grove, winters snow melts and trickles through the stones in the stream belwo. A two panel screen, ink and light color on gold by Mizuta Chikuho (1883-1958). An excellent example of this artists Nanga style, the subject and rich wet lines of the bamboo crisp and direct, fading to washes of gray in the shadows. The cavetto with inlaid white slip decoration including ornamental band inside the rim and four strawberry sprays surrounding centered chrysanthemum flowerhead within double ring. Rare Salvador Teran silver and stone (most probably chrysocolla or agate) dangle earrings, their design a modern interpretation of ancient pre-Colombian motifs in the artist's signature abstract style. They measure 1 13/16" long by 7/8" wide and weigh 23.1 grams (for the set). They are fully signed as shown and in excellent vintage condition with no flaws noted and great patina.

An iconic design for Salvador Teran - and possibly one of my absolute favorite designs in Mexican silver ever - this is a pair of "Dancers" earrings. Teran's signature abstraction is clearly evident here as is the innovative way he used the "shadowbox" technique. A whimsical Bizen stoneware figural koro. A young man is depicted inebriated - sake barrel by his side (the hat cover and barrel form inokes the otherwise absent tanuki associated with sake and mischief.) The sake barrel holds the burning incense while a separate piece represents the boy's hat and forms the cover for the censer. The enjoyment of incense from the burner suggests the intoxicating qualities of imbibing. Late 19th to early 20th century. Good condition...

Beautiful handmade sterling and center coral bracelet with deep chisel work from the White Hogan shop in Scottsdale,Arizona that opened its' doors in 1950 and closed in 2006. This cuff measures 4 3/4" around in the inside plus a 1" opening for a total of 5 3/4" so for a small wrist. However, it could be made larger by a competent jeweler.
