Of large size, this Huanghuali root or burl Scholars object features an interior bowl shaped area, which is most likely a brush washer. It measures 14" in length, 8 3/4" wide, and is 5" high, and has a darkened and soft patina. The grain of the wood is visible in many areas, with both pronounced striations and larger areas of dark coloration. The wood grain is very dense, heavy, and it has the slightly sweet odor found in Huanghuali wood...
A heavy hand forged iron candle-stand from a Buddhist temple in the shape of a burning jewel. It is 90 cm tall, 57 wide, base and legs 20 x 39 cm and dates from the 19th century. Very thick and heavy iron work.

Exquisite sterling silver box designed and signed circa 1940's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The top of the box is designed to open by lifting the top section. Box weighs 284 grams, 10 oz. and measures 4 1/2" tall X 3 1/4" X 2 1/2" deep. Beautiful condition with no dents, dings or scratches to the box or top finial. This vintage wearable work of art comprised of sterling silver, turquoise and amethyst was designed and signed by Taxco, Mexico artist Matilde Poulat in the 1950's before her passing in 1960. Poulat signed her designs MATL. The necklace is 1 1/2" wide and 17 wearable inches long. Timeless in design the necklace looks fantastic with formal or casual wear. Gorgeous condition with no issues the necklace weighs 135 grams or 4.8 oz. Slide in clasp is tight and secure...
A beautiful sterling cuff bracelet c. 1950 by Arizona Modernist H. Fred Skaggs featuring a very complex and elaborate pattern of silver applique. The bracelet measures 6 1/2" end to end with an opening that can be made to accommodate either a smaller or larger wrist. The width varies from 2" to 1 1/2" and the weight is 98 grams. It has a wonderful patina that really accentuates the wire work. Fine original condition and signed as shown. Looks like a French cuff on the wrist. Just fabulous!!
Featured on page 170 of the catalogue from the William Spratling exhibit MAESTROS de PLATA:WILLIAM SPRATLING and MEXICO'S SILVER RENAISSANCE, this is the Pre-Columbian Double Swirl Neckace by Los Castillo, c. 1940-45. Each link has a ball that acts as a rivet so the necklace is articulated. Measuring 16 1/2" end to end, it is 1 1/8" wide and weighs a very hefty 168 grams. It is in fine original condition and signed as shown. This is my very favorite Los Castillo necklace...
