One of William Spratlings' most recognizable pieces is this Aztec figure pin with a large amethyst. Circa 1940, it is featured on page 39 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill. Measuring 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide, most of the surface of the pieces is the large square cabachon amethyst which measures 1"long and 5/8" wide. A fantastic large tsubo vase by ceramic artist Teramoto Mamoru (1949-present) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. In spite of its size (almost 15 inches (37cm) tall), it is surprisingly light, and the colors are phenomenal. The slightly grooved surface is scored with primitive lines arching upward, filled with slip before firing. The artists signature is on the base of the piece, which is about 15 years old...

A bracelet in constant motion with curling and swirling forms edged in silver beading and 8 teardrop shaped cabachon amethysts budding forth from silver stems. Sold. Like most Early Bench Made Native American pieces this little man is not marked, yet tests at least 90% Silver for the Native American Studies Devotee. Reminds one of the Petroglyphs found west of Albuquerque. Nice heft at ~8-9 Grams and has an unusual pin stem hinge ring and a nice working safety clasp.
