Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 13.5". This example is of "Tougatta-kei" tradition, generally made in Miyagi Prefecture. But, this particular artisan, Ouhara Masakichi, lived in the city of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido. Ouhara-san was born in 1907 and passed away on June 8th, 1982 (Showa 57.) A rare and extraordinary brass cuff with repousse stylized fish motif by Hubert Harmon. The fish have a large cabachon onyx eye and their scales are three dimensional. Hubert Harmon set up a small workshop in Taxco around 1940. His designs are whimsical and unique. All of his work is highly valued and it is almost impossible to find. This cuff measures 3" wide and is 6" around in the inside with a 1 1/2" opening so 7 1/2" total. It is in fine original condition and weighs 98 grams...

Water tumbles from steep dark hills into a roiling sea of clouds on this painting by Japanese artist Fukuda Kodojin (1865-1944) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The erratic brushwork and radical form of this scroll typify work by the unusual self taught Nanga artist. Three tiny huts cluster on the edge of dark forest, a few paddies scratched from the rugged earth, their seeming insignificance a testament to the artists great love of nature...

A terrific c. 1960's Gucci silver plate and enamel belt in the original Gucci box. Great navy and baby blue striped enamel in excellent original condition. There are no chips, cracks or damage to the enamel. The 10 panels are hinged so the belt folds and fits into the box which is also in very good condition. These pieces have been well cared for. The belt measures 33" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide at the belt buckle and 1" wide at the striped panels...

Description: A small QingBai ram was excavated with obvious incursions on pale blue glaze. Deposits and iron spots were spread all over the surface. Referent material( Chinese Ancient Porcelaneous Toys) was published in May 1995. Date: Song dynasty (12th century) Height: 6.6cm Length: 5.3cm Condition: Only one minor chip was at the tip of the ram's right ear.

Japanese Antique Hina Doll with a face of Gosho ningyo (Imperial Palace doll), late Edo period. Very few servant dolls have survived from this period. Not only the flimsy nature of thin silk and the light coloring of their clothes, but a few dolls in this quality were made at the time (late 1700s to mid 1800s). The doll is 9 inches tall; a large servant doll, very good condition.

Description: A QingBai dog was in perfect condition. Excavation deposits was left at the drilling holes and at the unglazed bottoms of foot. Date: Song Dynasty (12th Century) Length: 5cm Height: 4.5cm Condition: perfect.

Swirling eddies decorate the rim of this gorgeous vase of huge dark hollowed vine, golden minnows swimming up the sides of the natural current made by the winding wood. A very unusual piece which exemplifies the Japanese awe and care for nature. Minor burls and burs in the wood act like rocks under the swift moving water, the pattern rolling over them in a raucous rush...

Description: A toy whistler from Chang-sha kiln of Tang dynasty was kept well only with glaze degradation. It was molded and applied with brownish color and straw-colored glaze. Height: 5 cm

16th Century Japanese Mino School Tanto Short Sword Signed along with Lacquer Saya, Gilt Horses, Chrysanthemum & Wasp

The overall length of the entire tanto is 19 inches in length. It weighs 1.5 lb.

The blade is extremely sharp with no nicks, breaks, repair, nor scratches. All the accessories are in good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, nor repair except small chips and cracks at the lacquer saya.

A discreet masterpiece are words which could easily describe this gorgeous chunk of antique burled vine root carved and polished to a subtle sheen in the shape of a two tiered vase inset with bamboo pots. The piece rises from pebbly textured burl, abundant with character, like a clay pot which collapsed during firing. The second level appears to float above the first on tendrils of smoke. A startling effect. This piece truly captures the Japanese sense of respect for the natural world...

Description: A Qingbai box with cover which decorated as a mandarin duck was painted with splashed russet glaze. In pale blue hue, beautiful crackles spread all over the surface. Date: Southern Song (1127-1279) Height: 5.5cm Condition: Touch-ups had been done only on the glaze in two parts separately at the rims of basin and cover.

A large celadon dish, the shallow rounded sides decorated on the cavetto with incised of scrolling flower, crackled glaze on the stoneware body and covered overall with olive green glaze. 14th-15th century Early Ming Longquan ware. Condition with 15 cm crack and glue locked, no chips or further in good condition. Diameter: 45 cm.

Set of Four Makuzu Kozan Studio Plique Butterflies Cups, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The cups are 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall, and 2.75 inches (6.75 cm) in diameter.

They are in good condition with no repairs, except one cup has a small chip at the lip, and another cup has a tiny hairline at the butterfly wing and a manufacture defect firing crack (with glaze on top) at the lip (as seen in the photos).
