A fox and cubs under the crescent moon and falling leaves by Hotta Shuso (b. 1894) in a style representative of the Taisho era. Light color on silk in a pale green silk border with bone rollers. The scroll is 21-1/2 x 86 inches (55 x 219 cm) and in fine condition but for a faint discoloration in border top and bottom.
Hotta Shuso (1894-1954) was born in Nagano prefecture and studied under Ikegami Shuho, settling in Tokyo...

Steam coils about the petit young woman at the public bath, a fine Taisho era painting signed Ikuho. The color blends into the silk, leaving a soft edge enhancing the sense she is being viewed through the steam and heat of the bath. Pigment on silk, mounted later in green patterned cloth extended with grey and featuring wooden rollers. As pictures of nudes were forbidden, Ikuho is likely a pen-name, possibly taken from Ikuho Street in Northern Kyoto city where the artist may have resided...

I would never have thought that the necklace presented here was not made in the 1930s or 1940s - design, construction, even the way it is hallmarked point in that direction. Yet it is later as indicated by the maker's registration code - I think it must have been made around 1980. Heavy clusters of bead and tube dangles adorn the central part of the necklace creating an impressive sense of abundance and luxury...

The most stunning carved obsidian mask I have ever seen adorning a piece of Taxco jewelry, this is an exquisitely worked example with a deeply golden brownish sheen to it. I admit that I have a weak spot for Mexican jewelry from the "archaeological" period of the 1930s-40s, when newly discovered pre-Colombian treasures inspired Mexican silversmiths and designers to create jewelry based on the ancient motifs of their rich heritage...

A 14Kt yellow gold Art Nouveau broach that is portraying two green enameled four leaf clovers. Each clover is centered by an oriental seed pearl. The broach measures 1” X 5/8” and is in excellent condition.

This tailored diamond engagement ring is set in a14kt yellow gold and platinum setting. The very bright, well proportioned solitaire old-miner diamond weighs approximately 0.80Ct and has H color and VS2 clarity.

An Edwardian diamond and pearl ring set in 14Kt yellow gold and decorated by two old-miner diamonds with I color and SI2 clarity and the approximate total weight of 0.70Ct. The side stones consist of two single cut diamonds and twenty-four rose diamonds will bring the estimated total diamond weight to 0.80Ct. The ring is further decorated by a larger 5mm oriental pearl and two smaller 3mm pearls. The smaller pearls may be oriental pearls as well. The top of the ring measures 13/16” X ½”.

A stylish pair of 14Kt yellow gold and coral earrings with posts for pierced ears. Each earring is set with an 11 mm round cabochon coral button. The diameter of each earring is 5/8”.

A black-glazed Jianyang tea bowl was in lovely size.
Uniquely and rarely-seen, it was decorated inside the bowl with splashed white mottles.
Obvious incursions had happened to the glaze resulting in the earthen and foggy look.
That includes the bursting holes of the glaze bubbles.
Wiry crackles can be observed too.
The darken body clay revealed was in enduring old look and was covering with grayish oxidation...

The cutest bumble bee broach is made of 14Kt yellow gold; the body is set with an 810X 8 mm oval faceted amethyst and a 7 X 5 mm oval cabochon moonstone. The eyes are 1.5 mm bezel set round faceted rubies. The broach is 1” wide and 7/8” high.

Chinese polychrome enameled porcelain ovoid vase, the exterior decorated with two rectangular landscape reserves separated by large leaf-shaped panels with further landscape scenes, the yellow ground with a dense pattern of stylized lotus issuing from scrolling tendrils and bracketed by ruyi-head and lappet bands, the shoulder and waisted neck with further landscape panels, an apocryphal Qianlong mark on the base. Salvador Teran was a designer of note that came out of the Spratling Mexican silver era. Here we have one if his creations that is so simplistic it is timeless. The clean straight lines stand out and the V slightly perks off the chest. Wonderful with a business suit or dress. This piece is 15 inches in wearable length but also is included with this is a custom extender that makes it 17.75in. which is well executed in itself...
