Signed with an old hallmark of Matilde Poulat's Matl the repousse is in full regalia. Very well done with fine carving leaving a true feeling of the feathered bird. This is the larger sized version being 4 1/8thin. tall and 2.25in. wide. The weight is 36.5 grams heavy. This is a must have for the Matl collector and this one is an excellent example with the larger, full tail of 3 rings. No damage or flaws, just superb.

Interesting boat-shaped water vessel with birds-like spout, standing on four feet. Made of brass with brown patina and decorated with floral motifs in relief. Similar examples of this type of kendi in the "Tropenmuseum Amsterdam". Condition: traces of usage. Dimension: 33.4 cm high, 34 cm long.

Early Velazquez repousse bracelet with a center height of 2.5 inches. The carved jade face is without chips or cracks. There is some glare in the pictures. This repousse has great dimension and is 104 grams heavy. With a length of just over 7in. long and a diameter of 2.5in. when closed it will fit most. Velazquez was known for his Mexico City repousse in the folkloric style that Matl, Matilde Poulat is also known for. A must have for collectors.

 

A globular bodied vase painted in dark reddish brown on a white slip. The main body has three large sprays of flowers. A large brown band encircles the shoulder and below the floral sprays are several thin bands - some straight and some wavy. Typical of this type. Chinese famille verte porcelain stick neck vase, with a lady reading a book in the court yard followed by an attendant, the base with apocryphal Yongzheng mark. Size; Height of vase is 9 inches, no condition concerns.

A rare black and white Ching jade of a sleeping cat. Black and white jades are very rare and the carver uses the two colors to fit the carving making a beautiful black and white cat. It has a hole drilled at the tail and can be worn as a pendant. Size: L. 4.00cm, W. 2.5cm. Condition: No chips or repairs.

Of pale green glass, with handle and rim of blue-green, this jar, or ewer, is nicely formed, with flared neck and ribbon like handle. Measuring 6 3/8" high and 3 1/2" wide including handle, the vessel has interior mineral deposits, and iridescence on the surface. In good condition, with visible hairline below rim and under handle (the photo accentuates the hairline). Has paper tag with previous collection data, and was acquired pre 1970...
