Casting of very good quality, a huge amethyst gemstone and a long chain with figural links combine in this Italian Peruzzi style pendant necklace to create one of those pieces that collectors covet and all of us dream about. I believe we have here a convergence of two Revival movements - Classical Revival in the sterling chain with its theater mask links and Gothic Revival with the two dragons flanking that amazing amethyst. I particularly love the big spring ring clasp that allows you to easily...

This adorable stuffed donkey has the softest mohair fur & a very goofy face. With articulating arms & legs, vinyl pads on the bottoms of his feet & a red vinyl mouth, he is quite an original. There are a few small areas where fur has been loved off along the seams and one ear is loose, but he is very clean & in overall good shape. I think he may have had another stripe of red yarn along his head, but he is still a cutie. He could possibly be Steiff, although I have not been able to find him ...

Koi fish is a motif automatically associated with Margot de Taxco in Mexican silver jewelry - the Grande Dame's love for Japanese art provided inspiration for many of her designs and those who either worked with her or simply emulated her creations helped the influence live on even after she stopped being active. The bracelet at hand is a rare find - not only because it's not repousse but consists of links carefully cut out of thick silver sheet but also because the fish are inlaid with shimm...

There is not one form of jewelry in which the Los Castillo did not excel yet I think their big, bold repousse brooches are simply above and beyond! The example I am presenting here, most probably an early creation if design numbers are indeed good indicators of when during the workshop's life a specific idea was transformed into jewelry, reflects the Egyptian Revival of the Deco period. The brooch is dominated by a lotus flower in full bloom, with scrolled elements surrounding a fleshy rosette a...
