Potent green Iga-Oribe vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (1934-). This roughly faceted mentori vase has varying hues of green and an overall iridescence across the body. Though Iga-Oribe, the clay body is actually wonderful Shigaraki clay with a healthy amount of feldspar inclusions.

molten ash streaks around the form of this superb Shigaraki Tsubo enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating circa 1996 by pottery legend Furutani Michio. It is 8 inches (20.5 cm) diameter, 8-1/2 inches (21 cm) tall and in fine condition.

A large and rare work by Sueoka Nobuhiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is decorated with huge magnolia flowers (in Japanese mokuren,the tree lotus) growing up one side, and hanging down the other like the traditional opposing dragons. The piece is 16 inches (40 cm) tall and in excellent condition
Nobuhiko was born in Fukuoka on Japans Main Sothern Island in 1948, and apprenticed under future Living National Treasure Fujimoto Yoshimichi in 1973...

Evocative blue decorated henko bottle vase with fluid brush decoration and sgrafitto decoration prominently signed; SEIRAN. The cobalt decoration sits on an almost ash style glaze with spots of blushed areas, similar to Hagi pottery. I have not been able to find out anything about the potter, but the brushwork and use of space suggests a full time potter, used to working in this particular style.

This henko is in perfect condition with its original signed box and measures 8" X 8.5" x 6".

Ash is blasted around the stately form of this tall Tsutsu-gata vase by legendary potter Tsujimura Shiro enclosed in the original wooden box titled Iga Mimitsuki Hanaike and signed by the artist in the lower left corner. It is as if his exuberance got the better of him, the characters beginning so stark and bold, running into a jumble of strokes as he culminates with the character life (ike), like the final crescendo in this opera of clay, fire and joy...

Very rare example of museum-quality Shigaragki-ware by Tsujimura Shiro. It was originally given as a gift from the artist to a secret, wealthy benefactor upon the Grand Opening of the famed Miho Museum near Kyoto, Japan, in 1997.

A large Egg shaped Zogan vase by Kobayashi Seiji enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Enigmatic lines score the oblong body, the map-like surface filled with blue, green and silver. A Heavy Slab-formed open rectangle of buff stoneware decorated with blanks of color “peeling” from the sides by Okada Kenzo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kaku Tsubo. This Tsubo by Tsujimura Kai is amazing and all attitude. It comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shizen-yu Tsubo. Green ash has poured in a torrent around the form, settling into glossy black around the base on one side and tingeing the rim with charcoal fingers. Huge eyelets create bulge from the surface on one side, evidence of how it rested on its side in the kiln. This is one not to be missed, and one we will be hard pressed to let go.

An unusual vase with rough, pebble textured pink glaze over scratched in cranes by one of Japans most important post-war artists, Shinkai Kanzan, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The shape and the design are exactly what we would expect from Kanzan, the coloring going even a step beyond. The texture is like unpolished jewels, the inside of a geode; very pleasing to the hands. The vase is 20.5 cm (8 inches) tall, 18 cm (7inches) diameter and in prefect condition.
